It just so happens that along the way the Georgia football quarterback has proven a lot of people wrong and exceeded most all published preseason expectations.

IZ terribly disappointed that you didn't compare him to Carson Beck. Gunner is too short, does not see his receivers, doesn't throw a catchable ball, doesn't have the arm strength, not experienced enough, holds the ball too long, rather run than throw, too slow, not a leader, etc.….

Carson is the antithetical - the complete and utter opposite.

This just highlights again how unreliable ESPN is in their predictions. Manning ranked #1 preseason and #35 today.

GS not ranked by ESPN preseason and ranked number 6-7 today.

ESPN is not a reliable source of info yet they are THE source of material for the majority of DN material. ??? What, 70-80% of DN stories include "according to ESPN…. bla blah blah…!

I’m not quite sure why the headline mentions the quarterback for the bugs when there is no mention in the actual article.

BAH! …thinks Mike is alright, his heart is in the right place - not an easy job, he tries.

Who among us expected Stetson to be a two time National Champion? Could we have a repeat in Gunner?

This reads like you are pointing out all of the ridiculous things people have said about Gunner, highlighting how ridiculous they all sound when you put them side by side. I hope that’s what is actually happening…

    Of course I am.

I’d say 90+ percent of the commenters were saying at least 2 or 3 of those things that were posted.

Most of them were just parroting off the two sports writers on here were saying. Maybe a handful knew what they were seeing develop and the potential that was there with Gunner.

Now they are all singing praise and jumping on the bandwagon…probably until he has a bad game, it’s the popular thing to do.

The same was done with Stetson.

Thinks the writers need to keep their opinions to themselves and just report the games and quotes from the staff.

But I guess they need all the clicks they can get - negativity sells.

    TITLE…STILL BEHIND HAYNES KING

And yet, not a mention or word about Haynes King in the article…brilliant journalism…

Well I’ll say this no one wants his team to win any more than Gunner Stockton. Why his teammates Love him so much. Young man’s body has taken a brutal beating for his team and yes himself. It’s called sacrifice.

He might not be the flashiest and glitzy looking QB but he’s one of if not The toughest. He gives everything he has. I Love that in any player on the Dawgs roster. It Should be special to be a Dawg and to Gunner it is, it’s Very special.

Over the years we’ve all seen many Heisman winners go on to be a bust in the NFL. It’s turned into more of a beauty contest to me. If Gunner were to win it that’d be Awesome, but if he doesn’t even get invited he’s still Awesome !!

Like has been mentioned by Several of my fellow Dawgs fans here there have been some down right Cruel comments made about Gunner and even though there are people and himself filtering that Garbage away you know he still hears it. But doesn’t seemed to have affected his game.

Gunner’s playing more for his teammates than us fans. That’s a good thing and how it should be. Go Gunner !! Go Dawgs !! Dawgs are gonna beat TX tomorrow night, I’m Believing !!

Haynes King, not mentioned in the article which is silly but not surprising, is a quarterback I very much enjoy watching when he's not playing the Dawgs. He's very good. I never heard of him before he began playing for the NATS. If there was hype, I missed it.

You couldn't miss the hype about Arch Manning. Since Kirby recruited him big time, I suspect he has big time potential. He also seems to be a level headed young man. It's not his fault that he was hyped beyond any reasonable measure by an often sensational media composed of parrots. He may turn out to be a great quarterback, or not. So far, I'm not terribly impressed with his body of work, but I'll grant him an offensive line deficit.

It never occurred to me that Gunner Stockton wasn't going to be Georgia's quarterback. I knew it when he was setting records in high school. When he was committed to South Carolina, I told people he was going to Georgia. In the same way I knew he'd be a fine quarterback for the Dawgs, and he has been so far. I believe he's not yet reached his ceiling. He's scrappy, tough, strong, talented, an unselfish team player, and a Dàmn Good Dawg. Best of all he's a winner.

I tell you this. Kirby doesn't care how anybody else ranks quarterbacks. Gunner doesn't care either. What matters to them is winning the game(s). Gunner is a winner. He's human. He won't win every single game he plays nor will anyone else, but his heart and mind and all of his being will be devoted to winning as long as there is time on the clock.

    Go, Dawgs!

None of this is any sort of surprise to me. From the get go, I thought Gunner was going to be a very good college QB. So pleased Lambo boy has moved on to Miami so that a true leader of young men could step forward and have a chance to take us back into actual contention.

I have no doubt Stockton has what it takes to bring home another Natty this year or next, if he has the right supporting cast. Goooo Dawgs! 😎
