Haynes King frustrated, Georgia scores style points defending prolific QB
ATHENS â Anyone who suggests Georgia didnât score any style points beating Georgia Tech wasnât watching the play of Kirby Smartâs defense.

The man named after underpants can take his frustrations and tough talk to the Pop Tart Bowl along with Crying Brent Key.
A series record 8th straight win against the bumblewasps, congrats Kirby. Keep rewriting the Uga record book, go Dawgs.
Defense looks ready for the CFP. The offense not so much. .
puzzling- d plays very well against a very good o while the o plays poorly against a poor d. Pitt scored 42 points against that Tech d. Primarily by running it down their throats. Doesn’t make sense.
So did NC St and BC.
And I’m glad we don’t have to play him again.
The King got the benefit of a bad call on the end zone sack. Georgia spotted him back to back 15 yd penalties.. King is a good player but he just didn’t rise to the occasion today
They don’t have 3rd and a mile screen pass Mike B as OC. That last drive to run the clock out just blew my mind. Why wasn’t Bowen or Walker playing?
Did Brent cry again at the end? I listened to the game on the radio
Yes the defense rose to the occasion while the offense seems to be floundering after some good series in the first half. I kep asking myself why we couldn't get open and necessitating several poor throws into double coverage. I also wonders why we were trying to run Wray around end when his forte is blasting up the middle. Where were the other RB's that would have provided some new life. A lot more questions than answers. I don't think the play calling was up to par or either our execution wasn't. Regardless a win and most likely another shot at Bama, Time to elevate our total game.
On the other hand Tech's defense shut UGA's offense down better than any team all year. The second half especially. Puzzling considering how bad their defense is statistically against a weaker conference. UGA was running the ball well on the right side of the line in the first half but started the second half with passes and Tech was reading their mail. Maybe Bobo saw something that caused him to change his play calling but Tech smothered everything and held UGA to less than 100 yds in the second half. I expect future opponents will take note of what Tech did.
Here’s a question for the Bobo naysayers…should Tech fire Buster Faulkner? His prolific offensive play calling netted 9 points.
Enjoy the victory dawg fans, there is nothing to panic about when you beat your mistreated rival for a record shattering 8th straight time. Take a moment and smell the honeycomb…go dawgs
Several puzzling things about that game—1-On Tech's first possession, King threw a pass from the back of the end zone to nobody-perhaps there was something I missed on the play, but that sure seemed like grounding 2—at the end of the first half, we left 4 points on the field with really poor clock management-wasted 30 seconds-we actually kicked that field goal on third down because we were out of time—-3-Gunner seemed like he was lost in space during most of the game-don't know if he was just having a bad game or Tech's defense was that good that day. Really glad we won—tough game-GO DAWGS
Like I told you in another thread You are fresh clean water in a dry and thirsty land !! Reading some of the comments on some of these threads you’d think the Dawgs lost the game !!
YES Gunner had a very bad game. But it’s a TEAM game. Good teams Find a way to win which is exactly what the Dawgs did. They are not 11-1 by accident or because someone felt sorry for them and Let them win !!
Let’s be honest here I Very Clearly remember quite a few Dawgs fans predicting in preseason we’d go 9-3 or worse !! But here we are 11-1 beat GT yet again, opportunity to play in the SECCG, opportunity to play in the playoffs. I don’t understand the thinking of the dooms day folks. I hope we Win, Win, Win but Even if we don’t win another game it’s Already been a great season in my view !! Go Dawgs !!
Supposedly a tech player was in the vicinity, but with the replay from the end zone, the player couldn’t be seen. The QB was obviously throwing the ball away and not trying to it to a teammate. If that had been Georgia, the zebras would’ve flagged it. Terrible calls in the second half by the zebras, especially PIs called on Georgia and not on them. The roughing the passer penalty was a joke. The zebras were obviously trying to help tech come back in the second half. Go Dawgs! Wrecked tech!
Been saying it all year, aTm was the most overrated team in the SEC. 7 games against SEC teams with losing records finally caught up with them. No surprise hornsdown smoked them.
