âThe first thing weâre gonna do is try to heal, recover, final exams, and then take a deep dive at looking in ourselves and maybe see some areas we can grow in,â Smart said. âBut itâs a long thought process about that, a lot of debate last year. I think none of the teams with byes won, if thatâs correct.

The Dawgs are in the best possible position; getting rest and healthy is huge, especially after playing that schedule. If Colbie Young is back then that could be huge also. This layoff isn’t any different than the old Jan. 1st bowl games or the CFP before expansion, so the staff is very familiar with preparing over the Holiday break. It’s Interesting, I didn’t realize GS is the only QB who started in a CFP game last year. I don’t know if that’s a big advantage, but the experience doesn't hurt. Playing a tough SEC schedule and the SEC Championship game is probably more important at this point.
Why the long wait. They could start the first round next weeK and that would give Georgia a regular bye like in the season
You are aware that the student-athletes have finals next week. They are still college students, albeit some are very well paid college students.
