Ole Miss readies to tackle Georgia challenge in CFP Sugar Bowl quarterfinal
âWell, hopefully we can get them to at least punt one time,â said Golding, the teamâs defensive coordinator and newly promoted head coach. âThat would be a good start.â

I hope the Dawgs blow thrm out but am expecting another close struggle. If we play like we did the 2nd time against Bama we should be fine. Go Dawgs!
Ole miss only lost one ballgame to us, and they were ahead a lot. I'm not sure which way this game goes. The dawgs need to really prepare, especially with Gabe hurt.
Our defense is much improved since that game, sending a lot more pressure on opposing QBs. They also don’t have the lane train anymore. Tulane had over 400 yards of offense, so I think our offense will exploit them again. Go Dawgs!
Merry Christmas to all of Dawg Nation!
Agreed!
And I think they will be…..Coach Kirby has intimated as much in his pressers and I truly believe the Dawgs feel like they have something to prove, especially the defense! Gabe should play…..unless he reinjures his toe…. feel like they are expecting him to contribute!
May be a close game, but I see the Dawgs carrying Coach Kirby out to midfield on their shoulders to meet Golding!
Really fired up about this matchup!
Go Dawgs! Hate on Ole Miss!
The young guys on defense have grown up, game by game. You can just see it. Defense wins championships! Go DAWGS!
#1 Offensive line domination which leads to rushing domination which leads to RPO/Pass domination which leads to TOP which leads to Red Zone visits which leads to….Hopefully, TD's…..which leads to a win and the next game in the journey.
The October matchup was our best offensive performance of the season. 17 points scored in the 4th quarter and zero by the Rebels. We held the ball for 15 more minutes than Ole Miss. (9) catches by Delp and Luckie. 72 yards rushing by Frazier and 61 by Bowens. Gunner even had 59 yards rushing. No turnovers by either team.
Hoping for the same outcome. Both teams are better than they were in October. Both QBs more confident. Will be won on the LOS.
Another factor is the bad taste last year's Sugar Bowl left and the chance to erase that bad taste. Tragedy in NOLA postponing the game a day, and Kirby's father passing away made it a strange situation. Kirby may be treating this like a revenge game even with different opponent.
“Colbie Young and Dillon Bell each had 36-yard receptions against Ole Miss in the first meeting, while Zacharian Branch had a catch that gained 26 yards.”
These are the kind of plays that can get you deep into your opponent's territory, and even into the red zone. The Dawgs offense seems to dial up the intensity when they cross midfield, and scoring has improved dramatically inside the red zone. I love watching them slowly and methodically working their way down the field with their highly effective run game, but it’s awesome when they connect on a big pass play to one of their world-class receivers! I can’t wait to watch this one!
GO DAWGS!
I've thought the same thing… the bad taste last year's game left in Kirby and the team's mouth is good motivational material!
Thank you for pointing Tulane's yardage out! I said the same thing.
Tulane's first drive could have easily resulted in a TD as they were really driving.
To me, it was obvious that Tulane just didn't have the bodies to compete or to last 4 quarters.
