Kirby Smart reveals Sugar Bowl blueprint for layoff, keys for success
Kirby Smart reveals Sugar Bowl blueprint for layoff, keys for success
NEW ORLEANS â Kirby Smart had a vision for this Georgia football team entering spring drills last March, and he didnât exactly know what it would lead to this season.

”squeezing the juice” - rather have a team with the “want to” than a talented team that will not work.
Reposting the last paragraph here, since CR once again decided he doesn't value DN readers enough to turn Comments "on" (knock yourself out, OTB):
What CKS said here and earlier (about how players should be announcing they're going to work harder instead of announcing transfers, esp. his "you can't run from hard, you'll just find more hard") is well-represented by almost every member of this team, starting with Gunner, IMHO. I feel the culture Kirby has built with this team in an NIL+TP era is amongst his biggest achievements ever, Natty or not. Look how the mighty have fallen because they can't adapt like CKS has (e.g., Dabo's face-plants, Gundy's and Stoops' inability to sustain/improve, Saban's pulling the ripcord when he realized how hard this was becoming, etc.).
It's close to a darn miracle given all the hurdles UGA (and CFB in general) has faced this year... we have the best coach in the NCAA, IMHO.
I had an Uber today in El Paso, and the driver (maybe the biggest Texas fan I've ever met... super knowledgeable) could not stop talking about how much he admired Kirby not just for the team's performance but how he's building and developing both NFL talent and great men overall. Even a diehard Longhorn fan loves Kirby!
Relatedly, I don't think this will end with Gunner departing: I like the cut of Pug's jib, as well. I truly hope he eventually becomes the Dawgs' QB1 and performs lights-out. He seems to exude the same cultural and leadership values as Gunner. Commitment like his needs to be both admired and rewarded, especially these days!
@Kudzu
concur on the comment being turned on and off - childish IYAM. needs to grow some coconuts and just leave it on.
Also make more effort in his articles…they are lazy for the most part - and quit copying off ESPN, X, etc…most already have read it, it already is old news.
Either way, the criticism will not go away until it all changes. The comment section needs to be off all the time or on.
If he leaves it on, he can always vote it “off topic” it shouldn’t take up too much of his valuable time.
Know what you mean about the TX fans. BIL is a grad, he’s ready to hire Kirby - I just smile/laugh every time.
Nice comments, you should post more Kudzu.
The SEC is about to get grilled on social media and tv for these bowl games. Here’s some facts: TAMU lost a home playoff game to Miami (the hardest conference to win an away game in). The game should have been schedule at night then no way Miami wins but 11am start is key to SEC upsets. LSU should not lose to Houston even with an Interim Coach and mostly backups. Mizzou should not lose to Virginia even though they were on their fourth string qb. Tennessee should not lose to Illinois even though Tennessee did not beat a team with a winning record this year. We got 4 teams playing each other instead of other teams (UGA, Ole Miss, Alabama Oklahoma). Texas has 20 players not playing against Michigan who is basically in the same boat. I think all SEC fans except Vandy fans want Vandy to lose bc of Pavia.
The Big10 is the puppet master calling all the shots in this new CFP era.
The SEC has beat one team this bowl season: Tulane
The Big10 (6-0 at the moment with SouthernCal playing TCU… can’t make this up) has beat some real power houses too in JamesMadison, Central Michigan, New Mexico, Boise Statea horrible Clemson team, a Tennessee team who has not beat a team with a winning record all year.
Remember 4 SEC teams play each other. TAMU somehow got scheduled at 11am for a home playoff game. The SEC will be worse next year with most the conference having new coaches.
How bout Lane Kiffens spray tan. Now he is a straight shooter. I guess you got to get that bad boy spray tan after you do your hot Pilates class. He is fitting in great with this new age society.
Besides 4 SEC teams playing each other in the playoffs and TAMU playing Miami at 11am. (Why was the JamesMadison game at night with Oregon. Last year, why was OSU vs Tennessee at night time. Tennessee lose either way but 11am/night time completely different environments) This is crazy: Whoever wins b/t UGA/OleMiss gets one day less to prepare for OSU/Miami almost a day in a half less to prepare. that makes absolutely zero sense with all the time that no one has been doing anything the past month how does that happen.
Lane Kiffen ain’t fooling anyone with the Hot Pilates class. I am sure the view is absolutely fantastic but he’s gone too far with the snake skin leather jacket and the spray tan.
they are some great hustlers in the city of Atlanta but the SEC getting 5 playoff teams in the playoffs might be one of the best hustles I have seen.
These bowl games got me questioning everything I been watching all year. What I thought about football. I can’t believe how bad the Line of Scrimmage play has been for the SEC this bowl season. Every year it’s a good indicator of what’s gonna happen. This is year 3 of really bad bowl games against the Big10.
