This could be a good get in the long haul.

Not being critical but are we acquiring someone who is habitually injured for one year?

@jamboogie - Looks like it to me. 🤷‍♂️ Hopefully he is fully recovered and can stay healthy.

Just what we need is another dude that plays one game and then stays hurt all year. We have enough of that already. Spend what little money you have where it is smart! Not impressed with Kirby's evaluation skills the last few years.

If it was the same shoulder ( the article doesn’t say ) it’s understandable that he had corrective surgery. That’s Why I said he could be of help in the Long Haul. If it was the Same shoulder he might should have had surgery the first time around.

Yall might be right, I’m not saying you’re wrong. But in my view it’s a bit early to proclaim him a bust or chronically injured.

When they say shoulder I wonder if they used clavicle as part of that ? I have a non-union broken left clavicle from a motorcycle crash in 1987. Got a freaking Daffy Duck at first for a surgeon. Which he didn’t do any surgery !! Just led me along for months and months and taking his own X-rays and charging me for visits and the images.

Anyway much later I found out he’d had numerous law suits before with Seven pending when I found out !! Unfortunately for me the statute of limitations had expired, not that I’m a law suit guy.

After seeing Three other ortho surgeons over time surgery was/is not an option. Now it’s living H e l l for me !! That’s the bad news. When Properly treated from The Start the vast majority of broken clavicles heal up with no further issues, And are actually stronger in some cases than they were before.

I’ve found that people say “Shoulder” many times when referring to the clavicle, even medical pros as it’s part of the shoulder. Any who maybe this guy is fully healed. If so he might have some promise by the time the season actually starts. Let’s hope so !!

Hope we got a discount on this one. Last couple of years this kid has been on the IR, if he can stay healthy he may be a good addition, wish him luck and welcome to the G

Thought the same thing until I saw = He only has one year of eligibility left, so long haul won't play a part in this. I guess he was cheap and worth a shot, Kirby saw something he liked.

Oops !! I missed that !! In That case yeah he’s a risky prospect. Thanks Brother !! I feel sheepish now. Naaay Lol !! 🤣 Maybe he’ll work out and like you said maybe his check was minimum wage !! Thx again !! I have to make jokes about NIL to keep from crying about it. Should have had a respectable, across all CFB stipend long ago. Might still not have avoided NIL but might have prolonged its coming for quite a few years.

bring Sam Pittman back and let him build the incredible offensive lines he’s capable of building

We need to add some truly elite linemen to the offence and defense-THAT's how you dominate play and win games. Enough DBs already!

I love the Dawgs and have since I was born in '64, but can we stop calling them "transfers" and call them what they really are? They are now "free agents". This is why a school like Indiana is playing for a championship right now and Georgia is sitting at home. Don't blame Bobo and don't blame Gunner. It's the new way of the NCAA. I'm just happy I got to live through 1980, 2021, and 2022. I am afraid those type of years won't be back for us again until they fix this.

As a former DB, you know what makes EVERY DB on your roster better? A DT or LB that can rush the passer. How about we get some of that in the portal?

Unless I counted wrong, we have 5 defensive players incoming and only two offensive. As per other recent posts and comments of many others, once again the defense seems to be the HC priority.

We needed some defensive replacements, no argument. But we don’t seem concerned about getting top shelf O linemen, Blue Chip QB, and only took one receiver. Most of the starting receivers left this year, and we have some promising but unproven young players that sat the bench. I don’t think that we have even replaced our impact receivers starting with Young and Branch (that would be neutral at best).

The HC Philosophy seems clear over years. Conservative offense, playcalling, and type of players that it wants. Great respect for Stockton, but they’ve relegated him to more of a game manager, basic set of plays. Agree with a recent article here on DN that Bobo feels Stockton hasn’t reached his ceiling. However, that point is fruitless if changes have not been made to raise that ceiling: He’s often under heavy pressure (subpar blocking). As a result, limited time to consistently go through check downs for the best decisions. Not enough time to allow deep pass routes to develop. Sometimes receivers not able to get separation. Kirby has Apparently given Bobo the dictate to emphasize the run, primarily backfield passes/short passes, eat clock, etc. How could Stockton or anybody else reach their ceiling with that scenario? Upgrade starts with a change of philosophy and then execution. Not sure we are seeing that?

As a side comment, often been said that offensive linemen have one of the slowest development times amongst positions. While not a problem to recruit some top shelf O linemen from high school, it’s ideal to have that front line consist of experienced upperclassman if you’re going to protect the QB and open run lanes. It’s usually a mismatch to put an underclassman or inexperienced lineman up against JR/SR D linemen. It’s now really hard to rely mostly on high school O line recruits to Follow through with signing, and then stay long enough under NIL/portal to reach that Level of development. What other solution is there other than high-quality experienced players from the portal? The system stinks, but it is what it is currently.

It might be tough to do, but arguably could solve our major problems by:

    1. O line emphasis (recruits + portal + better O line coach/development)
    2. D linemen that can get to the QB (note that we also have major issues with every dual threat QB for a while now)
    3. More aggressive offensive emphasis and players to do that (Which ironically opens the run game as well). If 4-5* receivers and QB SEE that shift, they will want to come to play. How else would they get touches, stats and downfield development for the next level? Truthfully, if I were a Mendoza analog would I come play for a run first O and be limited to 90% passes either backfield or within 5-10 yards???
    4. Perhaps a different DB coach as
      that seems to have regressed.

      Just my 2 cents worth
