How much do you put our secondary struggles on Donte and T-Rob?

Okay, we lost some DBs and gained some DBs. But we've gained no OL or DL, of which we could sure use a few. Two days, clock is ticking… earn your salary, Kirby and staff, and land a couple of seasoned, capable replacements. Go Dawgs!

I'll say it again — our portal additions thus far, in my opinion, have been underwhelming. I'm not sure whether it's just Kirby's philosophy or we don't have the money but as I read and listen to other CFB platforms, I don't hear or see Georgia's name coming up as being (or having been) in contention for any of the topline (i.e. most expensive) transfer portal players. We indeed signed players, but not sure any of them will make us demonstrably better. And from the outside looking in, it just seems like that doesn't really matter to Kirby & Co. Or maybe these incoming players are just overlooked gems that will turn the SEC on its head next year. I hope so, but color me skeptical at the moment.

This portal garbage is ridiculous (I’m sure I’m the first to say that). It has become impossible to tell if we are simply adding more water to a bucket with a hole in the bottom or not. If the DAWGS are banking on transfers, they need to get a little better at initial selection and then development into a contributor in a very short time frame. Can’t keep losing promising young players that have spent time in the system on the bets that the new ones will turn out better, faster. So far, it seems the DAWGS have been on the losing side of that coin toss.

This is the downside of taking players from the TP. Good young players, seemingly, get pushed down the depth chart. Then decide to move on. Kelly showed he has some talent. If he doesn't think he can compete with anyone brought in through recruitment or the TP then he probably wasn't good enough to start for UGA eventually. Better for him to move on.

BTW, saw that AJ Harris hit the TP again. Will play at Indiana next year. Remember him? Higher ranked than Kelly but same lack of desire to compete. On to his 3rd program w/o particularly distinguishing himself.

@khummel It seems that UGA seems to wait until close to the close of the TP window to make some of its announcements. Just for this very reason (Kelly leaving). It will be interesting to see if more additions are made close to the or after the TP window close.

@DallasDawg I agree. Underwhelming. CKS going Dabo. "I like our guys better than what's in the TP" or "there aren't guys that can make more of a difference than guys that have been working hard here in the program".

Gotta wonder what is being discussed in the Raiola camp today when Dante Moore announced that he would be returning to OR to play and START another season?

You won't ever see us in on those guys. Mainly because those guys for uga are already on the roster. Secondly because you are correct that.we do not have the money. (We are also one of the programs who are attempting to abide by the rules). Lastly when you sign and bring in the elite hs talent we have and you have been developing it you cant just bring in guys at an even higher price and block their path to.the field. Thus losing them and meaning you just flushed those massive bags of money down the drain you spent to.land them. Players get better. We saw countless guys like q. Johnson, great harrism and ellis Robinson all get better mid season and you expect the progress to happen in the offseazon or at least the greatest growth. Soour big dollar signings happened. They juzt didn't come from the portal. If kirby and the staff didn't believe in the young guys and even players we didn't see on the field then you would see them spend big in the portal but since we aren't it proves that they have at least seen something that leads them to believe those guys will be much better and capable. With that said we did bring in some good players. Amaris williams is an elite talent and should produce big time as a dl/pass rusher. Extremely twitchy friek athelete good player who got better over course of last year. Back to the point we saw the signings. They were the players that didn't hop in the portal.

Also don't be tricked by the hype and lost in the moment. For every portsl guy that cost a ton and does well therr are countless guys that are busts at their next team and do nothing. For each time that has success there are 5+ that fail miserably. Our team was inexperienced and not in a year they should have been able to compete and yet they did. They didn't lose bc of talent they lost bc they didn't play well at the worst time while the other team and qb played their best game ever in their lives. Injuries also came at the worst time but it's all part of what has always been the biggest degerminingfactor for a nc which is luck or good fortune. It all doesnt work out more times than it ever will snd it just wasn't in the cards this year.

Yes. I agree. Hard for any QB even the very best to throw Accurate passes when under Elite and Vicious pass rush. Also hard to find your open targets ( See Gunner behind the Dawgs O Line, Yes he Did miss some open guys under little pressure at times, but More of his misses came from split second great pass rush).

So I have a hypothetical question for you and/or anyone who cares to answer. If the Dawgs were All healthy and they were gonna play this Saturday. Where are we Most deficient, the Pass Rush or Pass Coverage or about the Same in Both ?

My humble opinion is we would have slightly better Pass Coverage than Pass Rush. But my question is purely hypothetical. Heck we don’t even know if KS and the Dawgs are finished with the TP yet !!

And as has been said numerous times by numerous posters KS can develop from pretty good to elite defenses depending on the players he has.

I just wish he’d put more energy into the Offense. Wish he’d hire Pittman in some capacity. I really wish it’d be as the new O Line Coach. But apparently KS is satisfied with the coaches he has. To be fair to Searls his O Line in my view Did improve some verses the previous year. But the key word was Consistency.

In one game they’d play really well, then the next very spotty. Either very good pass pro but no holes for the RBs or flip to the opposite of that. A Long time before next season, though things look rather bleak to us now, I’m sure KS will shore things up to make a better Team. Or in this age should I say Product ? 😳
