#2 - Georgia, but again, I'm talking in the last 3 seasons, and you keep wanting to discuss our last (2) Nattys that happened several years ago. That has absolutely nothing to do with my original comment.

@deputydog….I said absolutely nothing about giving up on the program or Kirby, but I'm also not going to make whatever excuses about why Georgia keeps losing in the playoffs and hasn't made it past the 1st round.

I think we have a solid roster for 2026. We have a very manageable schedule. We're setup nicely if we can execute.

But are you satisfied with our results?

If you are then fine. I am not, and I know Kirby is not.

3 seasons??…My point is, no one has established themselves as a premier program in those 3 seasons. The NIL/portal has completely changed things. No one has consistently figured things out. But looking at Georgia’s program as a whole and not selectively - I’d say that they are one of the top 1 to 3 programs today. Nobody is winning it every 3 years or consistently in the semifinals every 3 years. Get back to me in 5 or more years.

Clearly nothing will get done without a governing body that has authority. The NCAA is clearly not it . College Football could possibly use a commissioner like the pro sports teams . Maybe not a clear resolution but the commissioner can help check the egos of the conferences and schools to get issues resolved quicker than what we are experiencing. Currently we have the inmates running the asylum.

@MontanaDawg No sarcasm At All there Bro. I’d Really like to know. And Anyone else are welcome to answer to. So how often ( In this age of NIL & TP ) do you feel UGA should reach the Semifinals ? To dig a little deeper how often should they win a Natty ?

I can’t speak for him but I think @Eastmandawg and I are closer to being on the same page. Dawgs are Only ( starting with This year) Four years removed from winning a Ntl. Title. Five years removed from winning B2B Ntl. Titles. In the mean time it’s not like they’ve had “ Bad” seasons. They’ve won B2B SEC Crowns.

They went 12-2 with the Only loss in the regular season ( Very early on while Allot of players still very green) being to Bama by Three points. Take away the Desperation Safety ( I know it’s part of the Official record but the whole country knew that was a desperation play in the final moments) and only loss to OM by Three points.

@deputydawg76 Yes Gunner had some bad games And bad plays. But he accounted for 34 TDs which was One more than Beck over only 14 games vs Beck over 15. This was Gunner’s first year as the true starter. The “ being in the system” though of some value is not nearly like being in Real Games.

So prior to 2025 Gunner had very few Real Game snaps. And like Most backup QBs ( I wish Kirby wouldn’t do this) he was tasked with just handing the ball off to the RB in his early time as a backup QB. I wish when the Dawgs are waaay ahead and they bring in the backup QB let him throw the ball !! Only way he’ll get experience !!

So I don’t think @Eastmandawg is saying we should “Settle” and be Satisfied. I just think he’s pointing out that the Dawgs have had a Very, Very good season !! Actually Very good plural seasons. One we Dawgs fans should be Proud of. There were Allot of pretty good CFB programs that didn’t even sniff getting in the playoffs !! At least the Dawgs got there !! And beating Bama is Always a delight !!

I Know it was disappointing not to get deeper into the playoffs. And Yes for the second year. But with a First year starting QB and a Ton of youth on Defense and a Mystery O Line actually the Dawgs did Very, Very Well.

Acknowledging that there are Indeed Question marks for 2026 and even Problems. Yet having a positive outlook doesn’t mean a Dawgs fan is wearing “rose colored glasses”. That implies that fans who have a positive outlook are Naive and even Ignorant about the game ( that term has been used on other threads by some).

NO ONE But God knows how far the 2026 Dawgs will go or not go. We can All speculate. But I think we can Be Assured that no other HC will push his program any harder to improve than Kirby Smart.

No other QB will personally push himself to improve any harder than Gunner Stockton.

And no other Team will push themselves as a program to improve than our Dawgs. There are some Very talented and experienced Dawgs coming back from last year and previous years. There are some Very talented though inexperienced players from HS. And lastly Kirby brought in experienced players from the TP that HE felt met the needs. I think we can concede He knows more about it than we do. So they’ll bust their butts in the off season and we’ll see how far they can go.

With the landscape of CFB being as it now is it’s gonna get harder and harder to succeed at the highest levels. More than Ever Dawgs fans will need to Love them in Losses along with the Wins. Keep in mind these young men want to Win much more than We do. Unless maybe you’ve got a gambling loan from the Mafia !! Go Dawgs !!

Fyi, Navy....of the 8 teams that proceeded to the semi final in the '24 & '25 CFP.....Only 1 did not come from the 1st round winners.

And, that was Indiana....whom was knocked out of the playoff in the 1st round last year, by guess who? That's right....Notre Dame. The team that beat UGA by 13.

Indiana is the only team with a 1st round bye, that played in the Semi Finals, over the first 2 years of this 12-Team circus. That is a red flagfor anybody with a bye.

Seems to me....the teams with a first round bye are having a problem, navigating all the free time. They aren't as "hungry" as they once were. The players, coaches or teams....cause, they're all getting paid waaay beyond their worth. Lol

I think they're "satisfied" just making the playoffs to add to the ole money coffer, stat line and hype. The rest seems to be incidental.

That's why I call the CFP a Hobbit Season. It doesn't/didn't reflect what these teams were at the end of the season.

The Dawgs reverted back to their pre-UGA vs UF identity. Missing tackles, blowing assignments, sloppy blocking. Lol.

Too much time passed, Christmas Vacation, Finals, Cold Weather, Transfer Portal/NFL Decisions weighing.....lots of distractactions for those teams missing the 1st round.

Kirby's usually pretty good about mitigating that....but, times are a changin'. So far....Indiana is the only Bye-Team that managed to stay focused and tuned up.

Indiana didn't miss a beat, between Game 12....the BIG10 Championship...and the Natty. Same team. Same intensity. I.e.....Consistent.

Come on Kirby....you've been challenged. Take it to the house next year. Get HUNGRY!
