Like I said before, we will get to a 24-team playoff eventually…it's inevitable. .The writing is on the wall, and the FCS has been doing it for many years. Their playoff works great. Start the season at Week 0 , get rid of the SECCG, and there you have it. Make the quarterfinal games all on campuses.

A 5-round playoff would be insane.

Conference playoff games would go the way of the dodo if playoffs expanded that far.

The way I see it, if Kirby has Bobby Hill on his side, 24 teams is a done deal…

They've been doing it in DIV2 (FCS) with 24 teams for 12 years…

What's really crazy is DIV 3…40 teams!

I hope they don't go to 24 teams, but I'm sure they will — because it will mean more money for everyone. But I don't think in the end it's good for college football. But if they play, I will watch. But I just hate what the infusion of all this money is doing to college sports. Thank God we won the two National Championships that we did, because I fear we're going to have a tough go getting another one. That's why I'm STILL BUMMED about losing that one back in 2018. That game was ours. Just had to defend a 2nd and 26. Sheesh!

Please at this point just get rid of conferences and the regular season. It means nothing anymore.

24 is too many teams. There will be playoff games that won't be worth watching. It will also mean the end of conference championship games. But it is coming. Too much money to grab not to.

16 would be better if only to get rid of the byes.

24 team playoff. Well heck, why not 36? Or, 48 while we're at it? SMDH.

Just start the season Dec 1 then. Horrible ideas from the coaches

24 team playoff field gives more meaning to the weekly top 25 rankings. If only12 teams are going to make the playoffs no one cares who is ranked 13 to 25 except that particular fan base. Agree with Kirby that you will get more marquee matchups because a loss in week 1 or week 3 won't make you irrelevant in the playoff picture. Texas opened the 2025 season with Ohio State and were on the outside looking in for the playoffs from week 2 till the end of the season. With 25 team playoff you can get rid of the meaningless conference championship games. Duke won their conference Championship game and didn't get into the playoff. Georga has gone into two consecutive CFP playoff games at less than full strength because of injuries in the SEC championship game.

There were games not worth watching with the prior 12 and 4 team formats. It happens.

I agree. Waaay too many mediocre or, lousy games....for a so-called "Search for the Best". The more teams you add....the less likely you are, to find the true Champ.

As has been pointed out....football is a different type of game....when compared to the other sports, that end up with half their league involved in a playoff at the end of the "season".

Football teams can only get away with playing 1 game per week. And, as we all know...any team can lose "a game", on any given Saturday.

Imagine a team like UGA or OSU going undefeated, throughout the season...winning their respective Conference....getting a first round bye....winning the Qtr & Semi Finals versus 2 great teams....

Then, wind up losing to a 3 loss (#25) Arizona State, that squeaked into the CFP & happened to catch a couple teams sleeping or injured. Example....TCU over Michigan (4-Team 2022 Semi-Final).

Did we really find a "Champion", in that hypothetical instance? Nope! Lol....but, we made a lot of money.

I'm gonna say it, if no one else will....The FBS Natty, doesn't mean as much as it used to. The process is watered down with DEI-type mediocrity and appeasement.

Finding "The Best", is no longer the goal....Imho. The more teams you add to the playoffs...the easier it will be to manipulate the process using AI (Artificial Intelligence) and a bank of computers. Lol

Just sayin'....we are living in a different world. Virtually nothing, is impossible. If it can be conceived...it can be done. Cheating is alive and well...and, existing right under our arrogantly complacent noses.

Go Dawgs....win em all. Play like Champions. Leave no doubt!

True...however,in the FCS, they don't use Polls to determine the 24 Teams.

They have to win their Conference and/or meet very specific criterion to get into the playoffs...which is transparently on paper BEFORE the season. Everybody knows what they have to do to get there.

No arguments or debates at the FCS level, as to who should or shouldn't be in the playoffs.

IMO...There's no way to make the FCS system "Work", in FBS....while maintaining all the Bowls, Traditions & Customs of the current model.

Something needs to change, relative to the way FBS leans on the Polls and appeasement. "Everybody", doesn't need to be "included" in the process.

It Might be time for the FBS to split. The bottom ⅔ of the league can play the Bowls and maintain some traditions....while the Top 3rd embraces the CFP at the expense of Bowl relevance.

Just a thought. We'll see how she shakes out...but, my confidence is Low to No. Lol
