While I admit that Smith's comments were a bit over the top and it showed that he is no fan of the Dawgs, Kirby knows what Gunner needs to do right to take the next step, and yeah he will always stand up for his players in the media. It's an admirable trait.
You know if us fans can see our areas of need for improvement, Kirby sure sees it. One can only hope….
Thank You Kirby !! This Steve Smith character went waaay over the top in criticizing First Year Starter ( last year) Gunner Stockton. Was Smith born great or did he have HIS share of failures to Become great ? I think the later.
Both Kirby and Gunner know what things need to improve and I’m sure are doing all they possibly can to improve. I don’t care if Gunner was throwing deep passes to the end zone Behind him, to go 12-2 in the SEC as a first year Starter is pretty dawg gone good !!
All Dawgs fans that truly love the team wanted to go deeper than the first game in the playoffs. Yeah it hurts. But as a whole season Gunner deserves some Credit to. I’ve never heard of Mr. Smith. He might have been great On the field but he sure stinks as a sportscaster/analysis. Again YES Gunner needs to improve but here are just a few of the cough cough Honorable Mr. Smith’s comments referring to Gunner:
He’s Awful !! He stinks like dog doo doo. If I were a wide receiver I’d go on strike and refuse to play with This QB. He had even more to say but that was just a few. It’s one thing to criticize but this goes far beyond the pale of objective criticism, this is wholesale Bashing of our QB and by proxy Kirby and our Dawgs.
If you are a Dawgs fan and you agree with Smith’s comments As He Stated Them then I don’t have much respect for you. Repeat As HE Stated Them. Objective criticism is fine.
A QB doesn’t go 12-2 in the SEC being all the things Mr. Smith stated. Proud of Kirby for taking a stand. And hope Gunner makes Smith gag on every word. I suppose it’s good bulletin board material though. Go Dawgs !! Go Gunner !!
