Everyone has an opinion, but Georgia's best QB since 1970 is Stetson Bennett. Stafford may have had the most talent - not really used. Murray could sling it, but lacked the people around him and the killer instinct. Zeier was fabulous, but really lacked the talent around him. But if you have to go play a game tomorrow, I would want Bennett. His ability to throw a great ball between 20 and 45 yards downfield was the best. He could drop it in a bucket. His desire was off the charts, and his instincts were exceptional. Throw in great footspeed, and you have a super QB. Yes, the cast around him was fantastic. Yes, his coach was almost perfect for him in that he made Bennett earn every down. But, when it counts, he has two national championship rings, back to back. That's all that matters in the game of football. Stetson is the best. The rest lacked something inside.
Stetson had the heart of a warrior and got us to the promised land . Good to hear the coach give him praise . As far as my next favorite , I enjoyed watching Greene and would loved to seen him in that offense .
Well written post! I have always thought we wasted Stafford. Really a dang shame.
GOAT!
Go, Dawgs!
You can be a HS player with stars circling you like the Milky Way but I'd talk a player with SBIV's "secret sauce"…..ie: will to win, always looking for ways to improve, never give up and "if you're going to win this game, you've got to beat me for the whole 60 minutes" attitude. Stetson will always be on my Mt Rushmore of DGD's.
SBIV=WINNER
Great interview, Conner! You drew out excellent answers.
I Love This! Great job. I hope to see Coach Monken having great success. I also can't wait till Stetson steps in during a clutch and leads the Rams to the Playoffs
Stetson will go down in history as one of the greatest Dawgs of all time. From a personality standpoint I see many of the same characteristics in Gunner. Love Em both !! Go Dawgs !!
Conner didn’t do this interview.
It is very likely that Monken has a chance to add SBIV to his team sometime this summer. It will be interesting to see what he does.
Stetson was "All World" in 2021 & 2022, especially in 2022. Don't know about y'all, but during this time I almost felt like we were unbeatable with the offensive complements and great defense we had. What a hoot that was! GO DAWGS
THis interview is floating around on Facebook. It was just before the Ohio St. game. I either missed it or I saw it and forgot about it but it was the most insightful interview with SB or any colleg QB I;ve ever seen answering qestions and giving them alot of thought and not just the usual canned answers. Stetson saying before Monken got there he basically didn't understand what was going on in the offense. He just new the play!
Monken was hard on SB, basically a B-whole, but he taught him how to understand the position. Sounded like tough love. SB admitting sometimes Monken would have to tell him something 20 times before he either (understood it , got it right, or relented and did it Moneken's way). Parenthesis is my surmising of what he meant.
For fun, compare stats of SB and Johnny Manziel. Size is the same. Speed the same. SB had better yards in college. Yet, for whatever reason, SB was considered a low tier guy and Manziel was a first rounder. Bryce Young was actually shorter, but already a starter. ESPN has tremendous power picking winners and losers.
I hope SB uses the motivation to learn all he can and be ready for his moment.
