The game will be a good test for both teams. Both teams ranked in all the Top 10 post-Spring pre-season polls. Both teams should have formidable defenses, and both QBs will be working with some new players on the receiving end.

What's interesting is in the (5) different pre-season polls I have seen, the only SEC teams in the Top 5 are Texas and Georgia and they are only in the ESPN rankings. Dawgs falling in at #6 or 7, and Indiana, Ohio State, and Oregon holding the top 3 spots in all the other sportswriters polls that I've seen. Oklahoma coming in around #9. Yes I know, pre-season polls don't mean much, but it does show you how the tables have turned on the SEC in people's thinking over the last few years.

The SEC needs to change the narrative this season after getting booted out of the playoffs again and having an abysmal showing during bowl season.

“Mateer can make the flashy wow plays. He and Stockton just need to play at a more consistent level in 2026 if Oklahoma is to have the type of season it hopes to have.”

Trying to figure out what Gunner’s play has to do with Oklahoma having the type of season Oklahoma hopes to have.

The Dawgs superior special teams will be the difference in a close low-scoring win.
