Reviewing one preseason AP Top 25 ballot reveals programs that appear over-ranked and under-ranked, but there's some rationale as to why.

@MikeGriffith Outstanding take MG....But, I'm curious. Why Notre Dame #1?
It's all smoke and mirrors until the season actually gets started. Even then it's just guesswork until teams get into the meat of their schedules.
Preseason polls will look completely different after week 3..
Not bad MG
@BigDawg61
Notre Dame has a ton of talent and I'm very high on its QB, Carr. I think the Irish have the sort of schedule that will allow them to build momentum, and Marcus Freeman has proven to me that he's an elite coach. Somebody has to start No. 1, might as well be the team with the easiest path to the national title and arguably the most overall talent at the start of the season.
@CHdawg54 You are exactly right, it's so hard to separate some teams before they play a down, so as I wrote, it's a little bit of this, a little bit of that. That Florida at Auburn game early looks very interesting to me, as far as one of those teams jumping into the Top 25 — Auburn has a pretty rough stretch, so it will have its work cut out.
CONGRATS MG, two of your preseason picks actually match up with the end result of the other 68 AP voters. Indiana and Miami thank you.
Yep...I agree. Schedule has a lot to do with it. I believe, at ND....Coaching and Talent have been a given, for the most part. Although....Freeman still hasn't earned the "elite" moniker, imo...he's still relatively young and maturing as a HC.
It's hard to compare Notre Dame's schedule to a Team in either the BIG10 or SEC....due to the new 9-game Conference slate imposed this Season. I think they'll be there. But...Will they fall flat in the end?. It's become their M.O.. Lol....or, maybe...this is Freeman & ND's year. The Irish are overdue.
The bad news for Notre Dame, though....comes in the form of a Bulldog. It so happens that Kirby's due, too. I wouldn't want to be an Irishman in January. Lolol…Go Dawgs. Keep em coming Mike. Enjoyed the read.
I wouldn’t want to be tasked with doing preseason polls. Good job Mike ! But by week 3 every thing will probably change allot. I just want the Dawgs to Win and keep winning !
@JimmiesNJoes It's interesting to see which team ratings mine fell in the average of, but when I vote I don't give any thought to how others might vote or what the final tally will be — I'm fine with being the lone ranger on ratings as I have my convictions!
