Not sure how this rule can withstand legal challenges. Haven't most of the other attempts at limiting rules failed to win in court? Seems discriminatory.
CFB will continue to lose in court until it has collective bargaining and anti trust exemptions. Aka NFL jr.
This has been the rule forever. Don’t really understand all of the commotion about it now. I guess children need to be reminded of rules everyday. Hope the reminder of the rule sticks. All of this NIL, TP, returning from pro is like family game night when the rules change because the five year old pitched a fit.
With a 16-0 vote the presidents will just tell the ADs and coaches to not recruit those players. And that’s the difference between a conference-level rule and a NCAA rule.
It is our league. Do not HAVE to take them. It is our league of teams, our policies. We are not the only game in town. Play elsewhere.
As it should! Choices simply MUST have consequences for them to ever have teeth.

Well, I'm looking forward to seeing how Kiffin skirts this order. As we all know Kiffin don't care about "no stinkin' rules…" Waiting for a "court injunction' out of Louisiana, soon.
LSU seems to have become morally bankrupt (not just in football, either) and the NCAA, without question, is toothless 🙄
Is the next step going to be these players going to a local judge in Baton Rouge wearing a purple robe and yellow tie and requesting an injunction? This local court thing is wacko. The conference in a 16-0 votedby the university presidents has said these guys can’t play. If Baby Boy, i.e., spoiled brat, Laney decides to ignore resolution, his university’s president should simply fire him for cause and move on. Yes, I know his name is Lane, but when you act like a 6 year old you should be called Laney. Finally, Little Laney’s reasoning was he would recruit these former NFL players because everyone else would. Of course, with the major conferences agreeing these former NFL players can’t play in the major conferences, that “excuse” is no longer applicable. What now Laney?
Need to add baseball, softball, tennis, track, etc. to the list.
@UGADad20 - As a lawyer, I must admit that these local courts seemingly allowing any player the local team wants to somehow be exempt from any rule re eligibility may seem to indicate this resolution by the SEC will be declared unenforceable. However, those previous cases, while certainly wacko, were significantly different in nature. The new resolution, imo, is not discriminatory. It applies to ALL players who have gone to a professional league. None of the previous cases addressed this issue. Since it applies to ALL players who have left school to try and make it “in the league”, it is not discriminatory imo. Of course, my opinion is worthless, just like yours.”
@JBMDawg46 Clearly your law expertise is not in labor law or anti trust law. And if you haven't noticed, judges no longer apply the law, they use their positions to push their agenda.
As for being non-discriminatory I disagree. This new rule discriminates against a single class of people. Those that tried and failed to play professional sports yet still had eligibility remaining.
Now if the NCAA were smart they would sue the NFL to force the lifting of the NFL's age discrimination. Once the NFL's age restriction is lifted players could go directly from high school to the NFL. IF you are a player who wants to play "professional football", you need to go play in the NFL. IF you are a player who can't play in the NFL but wants to play amateur college football you need to play by the amateur college football rules. Seems like an easy fix. No one is forcing any player to play amateur college sports. BUT if you do you do so by amateur rules. College football won't do it because it wants those (NFL bound) players for 3 years.

Not sure that would hold up in court. Also that presumes that every team in the SEC is in lock step. Already we are seeing one coach push back (Kiffin) and one university (LSU) abstain from ratification of the proposed new rule.
