ATHENS — Georgia has heard all offseason about its recent College Football Playoff shortcomings. It will dog them through the regular season as well, until Georgia gets to the end of the season and wins a College Football Playoff game for the first time since the 2022 season.

"The goal for this particular Georgia team is to work smarter, not necessarily harder, throughout this regular season."
The best approach is less is more. Kirby cannot rely on plugging in back-ups to go in and provide almost the same level of talent and experience that the Dawgs had back in '21-'22. He's got to be smart about practices and time off during the longer season.
Cignetti has shorter, less grueling practices than many teams. They concentrate almost solely on fundamentals. Guys know their roles and simply are expected to fulfill those roles adequately. Cignetti also gives his guys a lot of time off.
I'd like to see Gunner lead the Dawgs to a 2 touchdown lead, against TN State, then hope that the Ryans are offered an opportunity to show what they can do in a game. If possible, giving the couple (or 3) other QBs some playing time would be great.
If we keep a good lead, the above will be possible. These backup QBs may, likely, add points, themselves.
Working Gunner back in, for more experience with the new receivers would add to future games successes.
Go Dawgs!!!
Cignetti also had the benefit of a much, much older team that didn't need the development that our younger Dawgs did. Different philosophies overall. I am not sure either coaches philosophy would have worked with the other team.
Since when did the S&C Coach get a name upgrade to "Director"?
As far as shorter practices getting them to the finish line in January, we've had 3 or 4 weeks of rest and recharge between the SEC CG and our CFP opponents the past 2 years and that didn't work out so well. I'll simply say, in Kirby I trust.
TN St. will be nice entertainment for Dawgs fans. But I wouldn’t get overly excited about learning deeply important things about the team. Same for W.KY except with an ever so slight smidgen of info. Dawgs practice harder against each other than these two teams.
Verses Ark. Will open the lens more into where the Dawgs are as a team. Main thing from these first two games ( ANY games) is Please no injuries. And get our backup QBs as much work as possible !! And I’d use the #1 WRs and TEs with the backup QBs !
If Gunner gets seriously injured Someone needs to be able to step in. And whoever that someone is will be playing with the #1 Offense. I guess the coaches Might get a little scoop from playing these two teams. Effort is one of the main things they’ll want to see.
And playing the young guys could help get the butterfly’s out of their stomachs I suppose. But I think vs. Ark. Will be much more telling of where the Dawgs are in terms of progress. Go Dawgs !!
