A new talking point has emerged regarding the Georgia football team as it enters the upcoming season.

"But most don’t see Georgia making a deeper run into the College Football Playoff. The Bulldogs are more popularly viewed as a team that can win the SEC, but not a national championship this season."
We understand. When we read "most don't see Georgia…" we know that means most sports writers and talking heads who either reside in Bristol Connecticut or with the other high-brow Northeasterners who know that there's no room for UGA in their CFP Finals projections once you have ND and Ohio State in there.
There's plenty of talent, experience, and motivation on this 2026 team to accomplish the ultimate goal. If CKS and company can crack the code for maintaining momentum and sharpness during the lull from December 5, 2026 to the first or second week in January 2027, they will have overcome the biggest hurdle that stands in the way of victory.
GO DAWGS!
The 247 ranking is based on average recruiting scores and doesn’t take positions into account
Admittingly, there are big questions that need to be answered this season:
We need positive answers to most if not all these questions to have a real chance at a deep run in the playoffs. We also need to be able to manage whatever key injuries come our way. Can we do all these things? Yes, I think we can, and we do have the talent and experience to get 'er done!!
Yes our Dawgs have questions and concerns. But so do all the other SEC & CFB teams. NO team is a cut and dried Ntl. Title winner for This season. It’s got to be earned.
But we have a HC in Kirby Smart who knows how to win at the highest levels. Dawgs are only four years from winning their last Ntl. Title. Since that time the Dawgs though not winning another Ntl. Title have played some very, very good football !!
A Ntl. Title should Always be the goal. And no one wants to “settle” for less. Kirby and the program know that better than we do. But to say 11-2 was a bad year is unrealistic in my view. What I Believe what I Hope for is last season was the building block for the Ntl. Title This season !! Go Dawgs !!
Northern sports writers. They are hoping we are not going to be great.
No hope for the country this year. We are going to pound people all the way to the Nattie.
Dawgs On Top!
I agree with your list and would like to make an addition. I’ve been relatively unhappy with our OL play over the past few seasons. We’ve been loaded with NFL talent, but not very dominant as a unit. Hopefully with new coaching we will turn the corner this year and start controlling the line of scrimmage. Go Dawgs!!!
"It is worth noting that the 247Sports Team Composite rankings only take into account a player’s high school recruiting ranking. It doesn’t account for transfers, which in part explains Georgia’s lofty ranking." Says it all. Those other 4 teams dove way more deeply into the transfer pool than UGA did. Remains to be seen if the older, more physically developed players coming from the portal trump the younger, less physically developed players that UGA will increasingly count on with a focus on HS recruiting and the younger roster it produces.
Those other 4 teams all have 5* QB's. Three with at least a year's worth of experience. The 4th has a bigger version of Jalen Milroe. I still have nightmares of what Jalen Milroe did to UGA.
