ATHENS — By any statistical measure, it was a successful day for Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton.

Great news, but obviously, we need to wait and see how Gunner fares by the time we get past Oklahoma. Then we can re-evaluate. I hope he's doing just as well then as he did Saturday. But is it important for him to get as many reps and time on the field as possible.
I’m NOT picking on Canion as he played a good game. But would have been 16 of 16 had he not dropped a pass that should have been caught.
Yes grossly inferior opponent, But for the very small sample size Gunner and All the starting Offense did very well. A little hiccups when backups started being subbed in but they got it going and did very well.
The starting Dawgs Defense is as suffocating as the Heat was !! Their give opponents fits !!
This 2026 Dawgs team has huge potential just keep chopping !! Go Dawgs !!
I meant Dawgs defense are Gonna give opponents fits.
Gunner also protected the ball with no fumbles or interceptions. I don’t think any of the other Heisman hopefuls can say that. Go Gunner and Go Dawgs!!!
If you check everybody else's stats....the ones ESPN has been hyping..…Gunner did as good or better than pretty much all of em. Considering he only play a quarter and a series.
Imo....it's about points, efficiency and yds/play. The rest can get hung...Lol.
Stockton is gonna be That Dude, this year....if it hairlips ESPN. And, it probably will.
They will look for every reason to devalue Stockton's contribution....while pushing "their chosen horses".…Sayin, Chambliss, Manning and of course, that kid from Notre Dame.....down the track to the Heisman.
That's the kind of stuff that has devalued the Heisman....and Sports Media...imo. They stopped "telling it like it is" as Dandy Don would say....a long time ago. If they ever did. Lol
Go Dawgs!!!
Man!....I couldn't be more pleased with what I saw, Saturday.
UGA is like a chainsaw on both sides of the ball. 3 sacks for the D...is 1 sack better than OSU, ND and some others.
The Dawgs...imo...are the MOST Improved Team" from last year's CFP crop. In some cases....by far.
They're like a young, talented NFL Team....and I'd put against any NFL Team in the bottom half of the League.…at the end of the year.
These Dawgs will be an unstoppable ShermanTank, by the end of the Season. Go get em Big Red.
In fact.…Oklahoma is the only team of the top teams, that I could find....that match up with the Dawgs.
Mateer outgunned Stockton and the Defense had 1 more sack that UGA....vs equivalent competition.
Oklahoma vs UGA........is gonna be The Game of The Year…...imo. The Dawgs "could" actually lose this game.…if they aren't locked in.
@BigDawg61...Yes, he sure did, but let's not forget who we played. TN State is one of the worst teams around. I would have been shocked if Stockton hadn't done well. Stats for other SEC QBs don't tell the whole story. You gotta look at how they all played against what level of competition. I'm not telling you anything that you and all of us don't already know. Western KY will be a better team, and then Arkansas, hopefully, will be a better level of competition the following week. But the Razorbacks are pretty awful, but we all know that doesn't mean they won't try and give us a game. But, if we're as good as we think we are, then SEC or not, we should trounce those guys.
Oklahoma will be Gunner's first real test honestly, and a test for the team. Like I said, I hope he does as well as he did Saturday.
@BigDawg61...without a doubt just looking at this past Saturday, the top QBs in the SEC right now are Manning, Leavitt, and Chambliss. Obviously that could change, but that is the way it stands IMHO.
You're right! Oklahoma and Mateer....are Dangerous!
Check out what Mateer did against equivalent competition. And, we already knew what their defense was gonna be.
We still have a few weeks before that game....and each week, the picture's gonna get clearer. We don't really know.....what's real, yet. Cause, like you said.....most teams were on a cake walk this week. Lol
@BigDawg61....Yes, Mateer and Stockton would probably be in my 2nd Tier of SEC QBs.
I'm hoping Bobo continues to get big use out of our TE room as we truly determine how good our WR room really is. We really don't know yet. But letting our TEs and an RB like Frazier out of the backfield be prime targets for Gunner will give him more passing options and should make his life easier while we see how the WR room unfolds. The, as receivers step up, Gunner can hopefully start confidently slinging the ball further downfield. He's got a better OL than last year so that should help him as well. Seriously, Gunner is set up this season to be very successful. We've just gotta execute.
Simply cant have WR's running open down the field(I'm talking not even covered,) and not get the ball to them. Yes, we totally destroyed that team that we shouldn't have even been playing. It was a great start except for the explosive opportunites in the passing game that were missed by GS. Maybe he's just throwing it to the receiver the play calls for, I don't know; but on one particular play for example we had 2 receivers that were basically uncovered. Daindridge was wide open across the middle 20 yards downfield and had nothing but green grass ahead of him and the WR on the right had a go route that was uncovered and he chose to throw it to the only guy that was tightly covered for an incompletion.
It Looks to me like guys are seeing snd diagnosing the whole field quicker than the last few seasons. Those guys put in some serious offseason work. This is not the same team that took the field for the last 3 years....imo. They are ALL operating on another level.
His release looked a lot quicker this game.
Your comments are the most realistic appraisal of the game Saturday. Not sure anyone learned much from beating a team that was totally outmanned. At times on offense, it looked like we were running plays against air. On defense, Dawgs were not challenged at all due to the talent imbalance. T State offensive line was very undersized. In my opinion, there is not much to be gained by playing teams like this.
