ATHENS — Ryan Puglisi attempting Georgia’s first pass of Saturday’s game was not a part of the designed gameplan.

He should have stayed in.
My obeservation is that he would be OK if he can overcome his propensity to throw into double or triple team coverage
I don't know that there was a concussion issue. Maybe yes, maybe no. I know I have had multiple concussions from football but each one was followed by memory loss, throwing up and, as I am told, walking around like I was either drunk or totally confused about everything (I don't remember). Yes, mine were serious but you'd expect signs and you'd hope the coach and staff would keep you out if you had one or were suspected to. With that said, Smart's comment "but the guy played really good against Alabama, and he could’ve really easily had two interceptions" strikes me as worse. He is saying that, in two games, Stockton could easily have 4 interceptions and a fumble. I'm sorry, but that is unacceptable. I'm not calling for Stockton to be benched. I know how good he CAN be but I also know that he has been spotty of late. He needs a serious talking to about seeing the ENTIRE field and ball security. I just keep thinking about yet another long, unnecessary pass play when we needed a first down and seeing Luckie, without a defender within eight yards, standing in the middle of the field, and Stockton had no idea he was there.
It's ok to sit the starter :-) Other teams (college & pro) do it with success. GS is still our guy, just wasn't his day.
It wasn’t a “relief appearance”.
I was right pleased with Puglisi, too. Small sample size, but good work.
As a BigGunnerFan™ I would say Gunner had a very bad day. I wonder whether he should have been replaced by Puglisi in service of both Gunner's health and the team's benefit.
Not trying to Monday Morning Quarterback the doctors on the sideline (there are doctors there, right?), but something was obviously "off" or "wrong" about Gunner. He was not himself. To me, that was obvious. Wasn't it obvious to you (everyone) that he was off? Go, Dawgs!
I was never a fan of Stetson, due to him not looking like a prototypical QB, but the more I watch Gunner, the more I respect and miss Stetson. Stetson was a slinger, I think Gunner is trying to please everyone talking, such as the media, fans, analysts, other coaches, scouts, etc… and he’s trying to be something he’s not…. That’s what I think happened versus Auburn…I would’ve went with Pugz but I’m just sitting on the couch not really analyzing so that’s my 2 cents.
You make a couple of good points. A. Yes, Gunner was clearly off. Anyone, including coaches, saying otherwise is seeing a different game or running a different narrative. B. Even if he wasn't, you've got a hat hand in Puglisi. Go with it, at least for a while. As another poster said, many other successful coaches do so. Don't understand why this concept seems so distasteful to us. Kirby himself says he needs more to play winning football. Seems he's keeping some of those on the bench for no apparent reason.
Yep, we all saw it. But this is 2026 and we are supposed to believe our "lieing eyes". But for the sake of discussion, let's accept Kirby's declaration that Stockton didn't have a concussion nor was his shoulder bothering him. Then that means that he played a stinker of a football game for absolutely no reason at all. Now, I ask you. Does that thought give YOU confidence going forward knowing that the next three teams on our schedule are all demonstrably better than Auburn?
Kirby demands unwavering commitment and loyalty, and reciprocates in kind. His loyalty cost us the Barn game, clearly Gunner was not 100%, clearly! But if his starting Qb says he's good to go, Kirby will always be Kirby to a fault. 2 way loyalty it is. Pugz deserved the keys to the car after the Stockton injury, and he deserved to drive the car until it was clear that Gunner was okay, but hard to fault Kirby when he demands loyalty and reciprocates in kind, and good for him! Woulda shoulda coulda only matters because we lost.
That and it makes me wonder how Gunner and his buddies accomplished such a good game in Alabama the previous week.
Go, Dawgs!
”you took a hard hit. I know you think you’re fine. But take a break for the time-being. We’ll play Ryan to half time and then reevaluate.”
it’s not hard KS.
