Well, Stockton couldn't be much worse than he was the last time he played. Bobo really screwed him by having him run a sweep the first play of the game. Reminded me of how Bobo made Carson Beck throw a Hail Mary as halftime approached against Texas which seriously injured his elbow requiring specialized surgery. When can we please replace Bobo?
Running QBs seem to be all the rage in NCAA and the NFL. There has to be a handful of those guys in the GO6 that would love to play for the Dawgs. He would be money well spent for next year….give defenses something to think about.
Play calling is a huge part of how effective any QB is. Bobo has been a masterful play caller most of this season. However, in the Auburn game he reverted to being ultra conservative after the first two possessions. For 2.5 quarters it was the old Bobo calling plays. We fell behind and he had to get aggressive. Result: a very good 93 yard drive to tie the game. Sure, the turnovers were killers in that context. But keep being aggressive and we win by 10-14 points.
OK please don’t stone me to death ! The vs Auburn game was terrible, horrible, no excuses. But I believe it was a horrific fluke. That game showed the very worse of our Dawgs. I think we’ve yet to see the very best of our Dawgs.
The game vs UF will certainly not be easy. I believe the Dawgs will have some rust in the first half. Then break away in the second half for a solid win. Blowing UF out would certainly be nice. But that’s not required, just Win. We will Need that very best game vs. an angry, frustrated, and vengeful Ole Miss at their house.
I feel pretty confident that the Dawgs Will win vs. UF. They’ll put up a good fight. But the Dawgs will prevail. The Ole Miss game for Me is much more concerning. As fans we can afford to look ahead, but the team needs to take one game at a time. Go Dawgs !!
(maybe a tad off topic) Something clicked with me on the statement above from Kirby that we need to create more turnovers. Seems like in the larger body of work over the years, we have never had any special luck with turnovers. Under a Kirby style defense you would think we would lead the nation each year in creating turnovers. Am I off on that?
