ATHENS — The Georgia Bulldogs came in at No. 2 in the first College Football Playoff rankings.

I think we need to create clear statistics for fumbling: Fumbles lost; Fumbles retrieved; Fumbles recovered; and the most revered of all-Fumbles recovered and returned for a long touchdown (applies only for players wearing #9).
KS will feel differently when a fumble on the 10 yard line leads to a game changing 7 points for the other team.
"But it hasn’t been a flawless season thus far, as evidenced by Georgia’s loss to a 4-4 Auburn team. The Bulldogs were undone late in that game by a Gunner Stockton fumble."
Of the 14 fumbles, this is the one that cost the most. The game was tied and the Dawgs were moving into field goal range (I know I don't have to remind you), and in an instant the undefeated season was gone. This team, including Gunner Stockton, will use these mistakes to learn from and become better. These experiences will be valuable in their march toward winning championship games when that opportunity rolls around. This is a solid team made up of solid players and I'm not worried about them beating themselves again.
GO DAWGS!
The Dawgs beat the Dawgs against Auburn.
Yep, turnovers are unfortunate but part of the game. No turnovers and we beat Auburn easily even with the other miscues, poor tackling, and poor execution.
Another glaring issue is Special Teams (also involves fumbling). Really disappointed in that this season when that used to be a strength.
The biggest flaw I’ve seen is the inability to score points on offense, less than 24 points overall a game over the last 3 and 6 of those points were on the fumble return so offense scoring less than 22 a game, The offense has got to get them TEs involved in the passing game.
Talk about untapped potential. All we heard in the spring was how unguardable Prothro would be. And in the summer: Reddell was a freak. Georgia is unbeatable if it figures out how to fully weaponize that group. Still waiting.
I beg to disagree. A fumble is a fumble. The fact that you recover your own is just luck. No team ever has won any kind of a championship fumbling 3-4 times a game. You then add one bad interseption into it and you have a disaster. Kirby needs to wake up and do some serious attention to this. I honestly think he already has, and that makes it worse that it has not improved.
RedUga4Ever
Hope you find it soon (your sense of humor).
Need another punt returner. I wonder if the fumbles are related to the decrease in practice time and/or the limited number of kids with experience. Trying to do too much comes to mind.
“Ball security? He didn’t fumble,” Smart said. “You talking about him catching the bounce ball? Would you prefer it roll down to the one yard line and us start backed up? I don’t. I like what he did." Really tired of hearing about this "muff"…
Man! That Bill Connelly has a keen grasp of the obvious.
"They’ve fumbled an incredible 14 times,” Connelly said. “That’s tied for 126th in the nation. They’ve suffered eight fumbles in the past three games alone"_______DN "Expert" [Lol]
Let's try NOT to forget that 4 of the 5 running backs UGA uses, have been injured to some extent for "THE LAST 3 GAMES". Makes it a little harder to hold onto the ball.
Mamber if we were talking about OSU…."that" and 20 other reasons would come out, to explain those fumbles & that loss away.
Such narrow minded dorks….these ESPN/ABC/DISN, Corporate mouthpieces. Lol
They're starting to Panic, now….cause, the teams in which, they've invested so muc money, PR and Sponsorship, over the years…..are fading from the CFP.
Lol….Texas, Oklahoma, OSU, MICH, USC, Oregon, Notre Dame, Alabama, LSU, etal…..are all in extreme danger of sittin' this one out. I'm not sold on Miami, Indiana or Utah, either. And, BYU & BOISE??? C'mon man!
If UCLA, were USC….they'd be getting all sorts of "ESPN Love"….imo. They aren't one of the "Favored". The Corporate Salesmen…I mean mouthpieces….will gig UCLA's schedule to-date….but, skim over #4 Indiana's Cake Walk Schedule.
Till they're forced to say something, of course….just due to it being so obvious and pointed out by anyone with a phone or keyboard. Lol….they can't "fool all the people" any of the time….anymore. We have eyes and ears all over the Country….which is how the truth escapes….Lol.
Go #1 Dawgs! Make em beg you to stop winning. Lol
"Would you prefer it roll down to the one yard line and us start backed up?" Man, I need Kirby's crystal ball that can accurately predict where the ball stops. The fact is, there is no guarantee that the ball rolls to the 10, the 5, the 1 or the endzone. What is a guarantee is that you get away from a bouncing ball when the defending is standing right in front of you. I am amazed at the amount of forgiveness for the unforgivable. Three badly fielded punts in three games is terrible. You don't have to be "scared" to play badly. Sometimes overconfidence contributes to bad play (and picking up a bouncing ball in front of the defender). Listen to Dantzler every time they punt to SWH. He says a little prayer. Every, single time. How is the Head Coach the only one that doesn't get it? When it costs us points and we lose by that margin, will it still be OK?
CKS is too much in SWH's head. Until he improves his punt fielding he should be fair catching everything. Just catch the ball and don't let it bounce downfield. Done. He is thinking way too much about coverage and returning. It was miraculous that SWH's muff at AL did not cost UGA the game. Better to be backed up at the 1 than playing D at the 5.
I noticed an uncharacteristic amount of GS passes thrown up for grabs against FU. More in the FU game than the rest of the year combined. Usually he is reined in pretty tight from making too many low % throws. May be CKS and CMB opening up the O a little more for GS. Or GS is getting coached to be more aggressive down field and taking more chances. That shoulder injury on the 1st play vs AU has definitely effected his passing accuracy and the spiral on his passes.
Agreed about the national haters!
I always love it when the talking heads talk hate towards UGA!
Gives more material to Coach Kirby with which to motivate his team!!
Go Dawgs! Hate on all things Reb!
