Here me out:
Do you guys ever think a coach and player make an agreement for a player to “commit” who has an offer but not a commitable one to boost his stock? In bectons case being “committed” to UGA really gives him more national exposure to allow more schools to put him on their radar.

It wouldn't surprise me, but that is a pretty risky business proposition for both parties. If the kid isn't on the national radar, his chances of getting to the NFL are slim. If the goal is to get a scholarship to pay for college, playing at Kentucky is as good as playing at Bama.

I believe @TheSmartArmy may possibly have a legitimate point. Don't know from experience if I have ever heard it done that way. When Becton committed the Dawgs were in need of someone to get the momentum going.

On the other hand, with social media and Hudl, most kids who can play or have the measurables to play, are discovered.

I can't tell you how much Hudl has helped in both coaching and recruiting.
