I'm afraid I did playing soccer. Violent collision--I was left standing the other guy was out. I almost got knocked out once, too. Knee to the forehead-took thirteen stitches. I staggered around until teammates helped me off the field. I didn't know where I was until the ride to the hospital.
Back before the advancements in helmet technology it wasn't that unusual. The old suspension helmets were brutal.

Always hated those Riddel helmets, those little pads would pull my hair. Also wonder why you never see the face mask w/ the vertical bar over your nose any more. I've only seen 3 players w/those all year, so I know they've not be outlawed.
