Everybody that grew up watching the GOAT on the hardwood (sorry LeBron, whoever fans) all the way from UNC to the Chicago Bulls always got that feeling when you saw a lane open and MJ23 drive. There's definitely a legit reason "hang time" surrounded his name. I've seen better dunkers. But NO ONE that seemed to pause for almost a half second at the apex of his jump.
It didn't matter if it was a dunk, jumper, rebound, whatever, MJ23 actually seemed to "pause" in midair for a split second. Was this an illusion? A physical gift? I've never before nor since seen any player of any sport have that same hang. He could readjust his shot, switch to a different hand, whatever... I've always wondered. Him doing it is no question. But is he REALLY doing it, or was it an optical illusion? 🤔
