imageTennessee coach reminds media of talent Kirby Smart inherited at UGA

There’s a lot of comparisons being made this week between Jeremy Pruitt and Kirby Smart. Both are young coaches and former Alabama assistants who were hired to take over two of the SEC East’s best traditional football programs -- Tennessee and UGA, respectfully. Pruitt’s start with the Volunteers obviously hasn’t

I'm having to work late, so I hope this makes sense...

What do all of the mutual fund prospectuses say?

Oh yeah..."Past results are no indication of future performance."

Tennessee was 4-8 under Butch Jones' in his last year, so 2018 was an improvement to 5-7. Nice going!

Georgia was 10-3 for CMR's last year. Kirby was 8-5 in his first year, so it was a drop off under a new system (is he actually implying that UGA should have at least won 10 games?). However, we all know what happened the following year.

Hey, Coach Pruitt, you've just got 4 more wins to match what you did last year. BTW, Tennessee had 13 wins in the two seasons before you went there...that's not that much less than 20 wins, right?

I'm sorry, it sounds a little bit like sour grapes to me.

Kirby has an AD that gives him whatever he wants. Pruitt has an AD that wears coaches clothes to work complete with whistle (someone please explain how having an extra, inadmissible coach at practice does not warrant an NCAA visit) and lusts for Pruitt's job.

Kirby has deep pocket alumni who will throw untold millions into the program to support their home grown coach. Pruitt is an outsider and his AD wants the UT alumni to keep the coach at arms length so that once UT gets through the rough part of the schedule, he can fire Pruitt and name himself savior of the program with the alumni's blessing.

Fulmer is fully aware he needs 22 wins to pass Neyland as UT's all-time winning HC. The only thing Fulmer loves more than UT is Phillip Fulmer. Pruitt can spin the "Vols are 100 times better" line, but he is going to be ex-Vols HC sooner rather than later.

Sounds like a contradiction to me. “He inherited all these young players and he is recruiting in his fourth year.” Before CKS the NFL was hardly looking at any offensive linemen at Georgia and we may have gotten an occasional 4 or 5 star. Now we’ll probably be sending a minimum of 1-2 a year there. These players are the players CKS and his staff busted their asses for to get these recruits here and to buy into what they are building at Georgia. Pruitt is a dead man walking and he’s digging his own grave. Go Dawgs!

What an idiot. Lets look at what you guys have done recruiting wise, shall we:

    Richt:

    2012 - 9th

    2013 - 12th

    2014 - 8th

    2015 - 6th

    Smart:

    2016 - 6th

    2017 - 3rd

    2018 - 1st

    2019 - 2nd

    2020 (so far): 6th

Now, let's look at Pruitt's amazing job so far:

    2018 - 21st

    2019 - 13th

    2020 (so far): 23rd

Oh yeah, it' ALL because of Richt's massive recruiting job and "loading up the cupboard". Smart has the top recruits in the country idiot.

I'll concede that UGA was a more successful program when Smart took over compared to UT when Pruitt took over. We fired Richt because he wasn't winning championships. UT fired Butch because he wasn't winning games.

He's right. UGA was in much better shape than Tennessee. Plus, Georgia High School football is recruited by every major program with enough talent to give away. Once that got shored up the tables got definitely turned.

One thing that hardly ever gets discussed with the Pruits, Muschamps, etc is there are only so many blue chip players to go around. UGA, Alabama and Clemson soak them all up for the most part. Once a trend gets established it's hard for the other universities to stop the flow. It's not like they can't compete or even beat the big 3 around here. Look at Clemson and NC this past weekend but it definitely creates a bigger up hill climb.

What Pruitt has hanging over his head that Smart does not is an Athletic Director that wants to be the HC. Just another layer of 'hot mess' for Pruitt to overcome! And it's a biggie!

He did inherit a solid amount of talent however he has taken it to the next level of extreme talent since he has been here

I’m still wondering about all the rumors that Pruitt contributed in part to Richt’s demise when he was at UGa. So many stories about Pruitt fighting with other assistants, back stabbing Richt and creating total chaos and dissension in the locker room. If any of these stories is true I hope Pruitt fails as a head coach. Go Dawgs!!!

I bet Smart would have beaten Georgia State and BYU with the talent and recruits Pruitt had. Just sayin 😉

Tennessee class rankings according to ESPN - 2015 - 5; 2016 - 4; 2017 - 15; 2018 - 23; 2019 - 11. So we are to believe this isn’t talent enough to win in the SEC east much less beat Ga State and BYU?! He keeps saying it because the media lets him say it. Problem at UT has been poor coaching and it isn’t clear if that is changing anytime soon. Still plenty of good players at UT but so far, they seem to be worse than they were last year or even during Butch’s last year when virtually half of his starters were injured.
