imageWATCH: 3 Georgia football takeaways, newfound 'Swag' and intimidation

ATHENS — Georgia football found two things it was previously lacking on its road trip Tennessee, and  they came from the most unlikely of places. The 2019 Bulldogs, it seems, are finally finding their personality. Every championship team has some degree of so-called “Swag.” It’s an air of confidence most evident by

Exciting to see this talented Dawgs team continue to evolve/improve. Areas of concern for me are:

    1) Short Yardage & Goal Line Offense. Yes, OL is massive but their size works against them in these situations, as DLs submarine them, and they cannot get their pads low. Herrien & Zeus are better than '7' in short-yardage.

    2) Punting. Sure, Camarda has a big leg, but his shanks are becoming legendary, and in coffin-corner situations, he's unable to get the ball to 'turn over' with ball bouncing BACKWARDS, so our gunners can pin it inside the 10. Poor punting could kill us in a tight game.

    3) Offensive Game-Planning. It was nice to see Coley vs. UT use the forward pass a little more. And OL did an AMAZING job of protecting Fromm all night. But why must we be in 4-wide to throw? Coley doesn't seem to throw out of 11 and 12 personnel groups. When opponent Ds literally have 8- and 9-man boxes and crashing on the snap, shouldn't we be able to drop it over LBs to Woerner or Wolf? Maybe Coley is saving this for Gators, so I'll shut up now haha!

I feel like the team has now switched into another gear in their development this season. It might only be 3rd gear, but we are moving now.

Why are all of our running plays either off-center or jet sweeps? What happened to running off tackle, or even a toss sweep to Swift or Cook? It seems like every time we run, it has to be straight up the middle. Run a toss sweep with Swift off of big 71, with a pulling 74 or 77 out there hunting some linebackers' heads. Get that meat rolling downhill and people will get out of the way in the 4th quarter.

Is it just me, or did Maurer's soul separate from his body for just an instant after that hit?

UGA had a total of four sacks Saturday night against the Vols. Just before the first quarter ended and the Vols in the red zone, number 84 linebacker Walter Grant sacked Vol QB Maurer, then the quarter ended. Early in the second quarter the Vol QB hit a quick pass into the end zone for a touchdown. number 13 linebacker Azeez Ojulari had two sacks, and number 27 Eric Stokes hit on the QB where he lost the ball after the hit also counts as a sack. So there was a lot of Havoc plays on the defensive side of the play Saturday night.
