imageMark Stoops: UGA will be a 'Top 5 team by the end of the year'

UGA may have gotten the pep talk it needed for the rest of the season from one of the unlikeliest of sources. The compliment came from none other than Mark Stoops, whose Kentucky team dropped a 21-0 decision to the Bulldogs on Saturday night. Here’s what Stoops said after the game, per UGASports.com’s Jeremy Johnson:

Hmmm, well, if that really meant anything, we should "Mark" it down. As it is, woo-hoo, big whups. Does Mark plan to show up in Jacksonville, or Baton Rouge?

Top 5? Not even close. Kirby has no idea what he's doing. Fromm has regressed... pretty much back to year one. Meanwhile Ohio State has their QB of the future while UGA starts over again. We have no O coordinator and therefore no offense that isn't garbage and luck rolled into one. The once "best O line in America" looks like an out-of-shape mess. The one bright spot is the defense -- but you can only hold your finger in the dam for so long. Florida is going to abuse UGA on national TV and Kirby is to blame. After blowing the National Championship game 2 years ago, Kirby said, "we're not going anywhere." Wow, he was soooo right. I just took it the wrong way.

Only being in the top four matters - as we learned last year.

Stoops, bless his heart, says that to all the coaches that beat him. They all look top 5 to him. Nice fellow though. Very gracious in the loss. Tries hard for his team. KY will improve and be a factor again..!

I believe our defense is the best defense in the conference . It will only get better when Tyson Campbell gets back. I am disheartened by our fans and their lack of support in these adverse conditions. This team has done nothing to deserve this, They have given us the best of themselves Those who boo and become overly critical show their pettiness and their incapacity and lack of talent and skill to do anything to change the results so they demonstrate with their talk. Always remember you have to walk the walk before you can talk the talk!

probably a Top 4 defense. Offense is in serious trouble. Very predictable, often poor execution, and our scheme is not a top 4 in the country.

Fans should boo . UGA Has put a ton of money in the program since KS Hiring. They should have. KIRBY MAKES MILLIONS. His teams offensive performance at home vs. Carolina and the first half vs. UK is unacceptable. Booing is the fans voicing recognition, disapproval and dissatisfaction of the on field product. I mean CMR got run off for that year after year. KS has lost to Vanderbilt at home, UT at home on Hail Mary, Blown out @ the Barn, Beaten and out coached @ LSU, Gave up 2nd half lead to Bama (twice), Embarrassed @ home by unranked USCe. My point is just that Booing is acceptable for poor performance.

We get blown up on those plays because Fromm holds on to the ball too long EVERY SINGLE PLAY

Can a team be top four on defensive prowess alone? Highly unlikely in 2019. The defense and running game could do it.....if we see the o-line play above average the rest of the way, we can get there. We have very good discipline and quality people throughout. Hope to see some offensive formations we have been "saving" as we go through the remaining games. Go Dawgs!

I doubt it, but top 5 is not good enough. You have to be in the top 4 to play for a national championship

    Don't see it. 9-3, 8-4 maybe

top 5 team, seriously? Teams have figured out that UGA is not a threat in the passing game. Stack the box, cover receivers man to man and make Jake throw. Couple that with a very conservative head coach and a predictable play caller and we end up at 9-3 at best just outside the top 10. How could anyone possibly see this ending any other way, based on what we have seen recently? Prediction, Jake comes back for his senior year, has to , his stock has slipped.

Would UGA have been better off with Eason and fields? I say no because of The stodgy offense Kirby runs.
