imageAuburn star Marlon Davidson: We had 'to beat the refs' and Georgia

Marlon Davidson, Auburn’s star defensive end, felt like the Tigers were playing two opponents in Saturday’s loss to UGA – the Bulldogs and the SEC officiating crew overseeing the SEC showdown. Auburn coach Gus Malzhan stopped short of directly criticizing the officiating in his postgame comments. But Davidson, one of

What a crybaby and sore loser! I guess he didn’t see the missed calls on their end. I guess the refs are the reason their qb threw a bad pass on 4th down.

Maybe Mullen and Malzahn need to get together for a pity party.

Both got schooled by Kirby!!! Say what you want about our offense, but they still put up 21 on AU's vaulted defense on their home field. Our defense shut them down for three quarters and when it counted in the fourth. Our defense is world class!!!

I watched the onside kick call and the no catch call and both were correct.....period. No way you can argue otherwise. Face mask could've been called but it was so quick and he didn't actually "grab" the mask, so it's hard to complain about that one too. How about giving your opponent some credit? Malzahn will be in some deep trouble if he loses to Ala. Mullen was one loss away from trouble too. I don't think either team will be as good next year as they were this year, so there is reason for concern at those two schools.

Now this is funny. Very similar to the Florida players' comments after the '17 and '18 games. The supposed facemask was only momentary even in the slow motion replay, which clearly showed no grasping. There is no disputing the ruling on the kickoff. The catch overturn... eh. When I saw it in real time, I was skeptical that it would stand. (And made the same assessment on K. Jackson's would-be touchdown.) The right foot very obviously came down out of bounds. If Malzahn really referred to it as an "NFL catch" then it just shows how incapable or unwilling he is of taking an honest and realistic look at it.

I want to root for them against Bama, but man those Barners make it hard.

LOL. Nothing makes you look more like a loser than when you blame the refs. The refs actually called a good game: there was some bad luck on Auburn's part (like the block on the onsides as well as the catch where he stepped on the line) . In the end, the failure for Auburn was on them and their inability to finish us off.

If I'm not mistaken the Dawgs have beaten the Barn the last 12 out of 15 games.

Perhaps the Barn's Coaches, Players and Fans should call 1-800-PITY-PARTY to discuss their itty bitty hurt feelings.

Nothing worse than airing you dirty laundry with sour grapes. Auburn has lost three games to opponents they pretend to be peers with.

Simply amazing! The officials let the Auburn DB's hold the GA receivers all night. On essentially every pass play when the receiver made his cut the Auburn DB's were grabbing them and holding them back. They were only called for it one time. They were also hitting the receivers right before the ball got there.

Funny how the only time it was called is when it happened right in front of Kirby Smart. Those officials were not helping Georgia.

Were they helping Auburn? I don't know, but Auburn should've been called for pass interference and holding receivers multiple times. That really helped Auburn stop many 3rd down conversions and it kept it as close as it was.

I didn't see the LSU game, but I suspect that's how Auburn held them to only 23 points. Any LSU fans want to tell me if my guess is right?

12 out of 15. Georgia owns Auburn, and that's not going to change any time soon...

That's correct - we should remember it from our perspective as well. You hear a lot of that on this site as well.

Carvell is clearly assigned as the new click bait specialist :)

What about the absolute mugging our receivers were getting by Auburn’s Db’s? That 3rd down play on our drive to eat up the clock was a great example.

When I watched the florida game, he showed class for the hit on trask. Because they were at florida. But at home, he's just another whiny barn baby. I guess the only way he was gonna catch herrien was the illegal way and then act like he was hurt.

Please stop blaming others for your lack of execution and getting dominated. Man up and just accept the fact that you got whipped.

Cry me a freaking river. AU celebrates the targeted headshots on A Murray that weren't called, and then whines about about no calls as the home team? Really, I saw two or three PI no calls that benefited them, but he has no problem those right?

There was also a play where Nix ran towards the line then threw a backwards pass that was missed and went out of bounds 3 to 4 yards behind the line. I assume that is a lateral and should be spotted there. Instead the ball was spotted at the previous spot not 3 to 4 yards back.

    Hey Marlon,

You’re 1-4 against UGA during your four years at Auburn. Your only win was in 2017, but UGA kicked your ass 3 weeks later in the SEC CG. I’m sure you are blaming the refs for all those losses. Get over it loser!!! Go Dawgs!!!

    What a crybaby. The truth:

Facemask: incidental. Could have gone either way. Will give the crybabies that pacifier if they want it on this one.

Onside kick: clearly blocked the UGA player before the ball went 10 yds. Very obvious in replay.

Sideline catch: still bobbling it some when his foot hit the line. Watch his hands on the replay. The replay officials did.

Auburn also benefited from at least 1 truly fake penalty: UGA hiking the ball when ref says it wasn't set, but ref had already set it and moved away quite a few yards.

....Now Auburn can enjoy their trip to the Pampers bowl. GO DAWGS!

I would suggest that the Auburn players & coaching staff worry about what they can control which is the play of their team. They had opportunities and squandered them numerous times, including Bo Nix missing his receiver on their last offensive play. I would argue that every team in every game feels like calls went against them. Georgia came into a very hostile & difficult place to play & handled their business. Big win for the Dawgs: SEC EAST CHAMPS !! Next up, another tough test against Texas A & M. Sure hope we get some home cooking from the refs since apparently that's the only way Georgia can win. SMH... Go Dawgs!!
