Former UGA offensive coordinator Mike Bobo will be hired in the same role at South Carolina “barring a last-minute change of heart,” according to The Post and Courier’s David Cloninger. “USC can’t officially confirm the hire until a contract has been approved,” per the website. “The Board is expected to do so on

I wonder what's behind the "barring a last-minute change of heart" part. Is that something the writer said just to give him an out, or are those Bobo's words, and HE wants to leave himself an out just in case he gets a better offer between now and Tuesday (hint hint). Stranger things have happened!!!!

And I hope that McClendon doesn't get written off. I honestly think he's a better coach than Muschamp, but because he worked at SC and they didn't do well, now he's the one getting tainted instead of the head coach. Who knows, perhaps with better talent to work with, he'd do a better job as an OC. (another hint hint).

With the next dead period quickly approaching and being a week behind Bama since the first dead period, Kirby's full attention needs to be on recruiting. If Bobo is in a hurry to sign a contract, we can revisit this next year. Both he and Muschamp will likely be available when Will gets his walking papers and Lanning gets a HC gig.

Could we hire Bryan McClendon as OC ? that would be an improvement. His offensive game plan was able to whoop us with a 3rd string QB

As close as Kirby and Bono are, I am not sure that’s a good recipe for a HC / OC relationship. As upset as people are with the offense, changing OC’s every year is a challenge for the players, especially QB’s. I think Coley lasts at least one more year, assuming Fromm returns.

why no mentions of Hines Ward. Seems like a great option to work with QB's.

Fools rush in.....Kirby and Co. need to take time to digest everything and not let nostalgia rush them into a decision. Bobo would be a good hire, but it sounds like there are other good options they need to take some time to evaluate as well. We need to make sure we get a good coach, not just a recruiter. Bobo could definitely offer that. We’ve obviously recruited very well over the past 3 years, but after watching the SECCG, we also need a massive upgrade in our offensive philosophy. Our current offense is dial up internet, and it’s time for Kirby to get off AOL messenger.

Bobo would be an upgrade over Coley.

Does no one remember the constant calls to "fire Bobo"? I STILL hear them in the stands when the offense is being particularly unimaginative... Really hard to imagine hiring a guy back who is still the butt of a joke...

Time to admit Coley running the offense was a disaster. Maybe keep him as a recruiter, but some fresh blood is needed.

Kirby needs to call his old friend and let him know he needs a QB Coach. Bobo would be perfect for this.

jamboogie.....why would Hines Ward want to return to UGA as a QB mentor? This guy is up for the Football Hall of Fame. Maybe as a volunteer to help out as Hershel Walker does.

There's a lot of sentiment for Joey King to return to Cedartown and rebuild the program. Maybe a quick check back for King and Bobo to hone their play-calling skills
