ATHENS — Georgia football coach Kirby Smart has no shortage of candidates for the vacancy on his staff, but one name that continues to circulate is Todd Monken. It would be the sort of hire that would quickly gain attention and make a statement about UGA's commitment to the pass game. ESPN's Mark Schalbach reported

Hmmmm....doesn't sound like Monken would be the best fit for the program. No sense in getting someone just to fill the void when Coley can really handle the duties.

BIG LSU news - looks like LSU DC Dave Aranda heading to be the head coach at Baylor. SO, LSU is now losing: the Heisman winner; its celebrating passing game coordinator; its $2.5 million defensive coordinator; no fewer than seven underclassmen. Looks like 2020 is going to be a major rebuild for them.

Wow! Just looked at where we were ranked scoring wise this past season #61 in the nation. That simply can't happen again under CKS. IF it does then he isn't the fixer we think he is. What we averaged in 2018 would have put us 10th this year.

LSU, Ohio St., Clemson and Alabama, all the big boys right there in the top 4 this year(up in the 40's per game). And we were 61st.

Bama remained virtually the same from 2018, Clemson virtually the same, and Ohio St . all within a couple of points of what they did in 2018. LSU of course increased their scoring avg. by about 30% from 2018 and we know what happened.

UGA's scoring avg. dipped around 20% from 2018.

I think we all know what we need. It won't be run up the gut 1st and 2nd down and try to convert 3rd and 7. Thank goodness for the defense. Jut a shame we can't have a prolific offense to go along with the excellent D. We all know what would happen then. Can anyone say Natty?

my level of confidence in OC Coley as a play caller on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being None, is 1. As a recruiter, he probably is 9-10. Do we need a Recruiter or real deal OC who can walk and chew gum at the same time? Same could be said of Head Coach! Monken sounds like a band aid, like Matt Luke. Sam Pittman apparently was the glue who held this team together and he gone. HC Smart has issues that have to be addressed if them dawgs are to really be the team we thought we had. And a new OC with multiple strengths and a vision for the future and not the past is a beginning.

Just heard on Sirius XM ESPNU radio that Monken has been hired! Anybody know what role?

Monken to the rescue. Good for KCS, he realized we simply can't do what we want to do(Natty) with a mediocre scoring offense like we had this past season.

It'll be interesting to see how Monken and Coley work things out, if Monken is in fact hired.
