Just when it seemed the coaching carousel had come to a stop, Texas part ways with head coach Tom Herman. Just hours later, the Longhorns had their next coach ready to go as they announced the hiring of Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian.

Good for Sark. Glad he took the Texas job instead of the Auburn job....wouldn't want to face him every season. Looks like Herman got a nice tidy $10-15M buyout.
What does that say about how these coaches view the Auburn job?
I'm not knocking Auburn. I just think there are still people (boosters) who have too much control over the job, and many coaches don't want to deal with that. Maybe Sark can compete with Oklahoma and make the Big-12 more than just a one team show.
"Alabama is on the verge of signing consecutive No. 1 ranked recruiting classes"? I thought we were #1 last year?
Many on this website that decried the hiring of Kirby complained that we could have had Herman. How did that work out for Texas? He had one of the premier jobs in the country at the flagship university in a top two recruiting state and never won even one conference championship in the woeful Big 12. Thank the Lord UGA went with Kirby! The Dawgs are very close to the promise land!
I’m not sure why everyone is so impressed with Sarkisian as a head coach. I realize he has been a very good assistant coach like Will Muschamp, but he doesn’t have an impressive resume as a head coach. In 7 years at Washington and USC Sarkisian won 57% of his games and was 2-2 in bowl games. On the flip side, in 8.5 years at Florida and South Carolina Muschamp won 53% of his games and was 2-3 in bowl games. Maybe Texas thinks there is something to the old saying, “third time’s a charm”. Go Dawgs!!!
Heck, I remember when we lost to them in the Sugar Bowl, the Texas QB was declaring "We Are Back". How did that work out for you? Now, the HC is out, and ours is still here!
