Another day for Matthew Boling in a UGA uniform, another day the track star turns heads. What’s the latest accomplishment for the Bulldogs sophomore? Who says white boys can't jump?
Seeing someone jump close to 30 feet doesn't even seem real. Wow. I'm always impressed by this young man.
White men can jump? Boling can do just about anything!
Boling is breaking UGA track and field record after record. He is going to be Olympic material in the 200 meters with these super quick times. He may even qualify in the 100 meters. His 400 times are among the fastest this year as well. UGA is recruiting at a new level of talent in track & field. This youngster is amazing. Have been following him since high school.
Like everyone else, I'm excited about this guy and hope he's able to make the Olympic team this year. But he'll probably be closer to his peak as a sprinter during the 2024 games in Paris. Champ Bailey to me is the gold standard of pure athleticism for UGA football players. But a more appropriate UGA track athlete to compare Boling to (and for him to aspire to) would be the great sprinter Gwen Torrence, who competed in 3 different Olympiads. She won no medals in her first appearance, but during the next two (Barcelona and Atlanta) won a total of 5 medals, including 3 gold! Prior to that, while still at UGA, she won 5 gold at the World University Games and the Pan American Games.
He sure is fast.
