I always wondered why Broderick Jones was working RT and Mims was working LT. Jones is more of a LT size wise and Mims is a prototype RT size wise. I think UGA starts experience vs Clemson but Jones and Mims may both be starting by the end of the year.
"in the third down protection periods I thought they did a nice job with the pocket,” Smart said. “I thought we ran the ball and made some holes in there."
That sounds like a good report on the O-line. They're going up against a very good d-line.
Better to get all these OL guys some serious reps at various positions now, because injuries could force them to play a position they weren't expecting. All these guys are talented, so I'm not worried at this point. You know Clemson will be using stunts, delays, and be constantly moving on the D front to try and confuse our O line. We've got to stay disciplined and know our assignments. Don't get drawn into false starts and mistakes with their movements.
Looking forward to the results from the 2nd scrimmage when things get nailed down more precisely. At that point, I think Smart will potentially have to make some tough decisions.
