Kirby Smart: Quarterbacks Stetson Bennett and JT Daniels ‘evaluated each and every day’
ATHENS — Kirby Smart indicated he’s not handling the quarterback situation any differently than before as Georgia shifts into its CFP Orange Bowl preparation for Michigan.

Of the only one at @dawgnation, @MikeGriffith, questioning Kirby on the qb situation, you have failed me. You have refused to ask the most basic question there is. IS JT PLANNING ON TRANSFERRING? That is the question you need to ask. Kirby will either tell the truth or lie to your face. Because if he says no,and JT does, JT will admit it later.
That is the only way anyone will convince me for playing Bennett. Period.
His feet have been a blessing for us, his ability to run, scramble things open, and make plays with his feet have been good,” Smart said. Well, if his decision making process was better, he wouldn’t need to run . Period
@budknox310 JT is all in and engaged with the team, supportive of Stetson. Not sure how else you'd expect him to be? No idea how this all plays out, but at last work he was looking at graduate-level classes and trusting in Kirby and for things to work out. Most players are like that -- they are successful because they stay focused and trust their coaches and stay close with their teammates. Again, I can't predict what will happen -- who would have thought this season would play out exactly like this when we were watching G-Day, right?
Come on Coach, Bennett has 250 yards rushing on the season and that's after 13 games. Give a better reason than his mobility. Why didn't his mobility have him as the starter to begin the season?
Correct me if im wrong, but i dont recall a single WR or TE openly supporting or defending stetson. They were pouring on praise for JT in the offseason and Ladd raved about how sharp he was coming off injury, while kirby said he was rusty.... Even watching their on-field body language its pretty obvious that theyd prefer JT. Very curious situation...and maybe a reason why top high school WRs chose places like Mizzou and UNC over UGA. Cant trust that a talented QB will get a chance to play and actually throw the ball.
Kirby can go sell that story along with a bottle of snake oil at the county fair. Hard to see a competition when one guy takes all the reps with the 1s and the other guy runs only w/the second team all week. But stubborn is Smart's middle name. Just tiring hearing the same old thing, knowing it's hogwash.
Why bother w/ 5* talent if they cant see the field in one of, if not the most critical area. Has he not learned his lesson now twice? I don't get it.. maybe I never will.. I think once JT is told or figures out that he won't start, say hello to the Portal. That is my take and with other 5* athletes waiting in the wing, it will be Perry Pickemeister V from nowhere Ga that walks on, stands 5 5" and can run who will be the starting QB..
I'm sorry, but all evidence disagrees with that statement. You cannot claim coincidence when EVERY SINGLE TIME (except for Mathis who shouldn't have started anyway) an injury changed the starting QB and then once better, the original starter never got to start again.
If it was TRULY a week-to-week thing, then you'd expect to see more variation as players had better and worse weeks. And what about Vandagriff and Beck? They aren't even getting enough reps, so how can you expect them to get better? By all normal accounts, you would expect Vandagriff to be our starter next year and potentially be ready for the playoffs, but he's only been given ONCE CHANCE TO THROW.
Just, stop it and hire a QB Coach and allow THEM to evaluate who the better QB is for the upcoming game.
No coach would EVER answer that and only the player himself would and only a fool player would answer before the end of the season. I can't see a reason why JT would want to stay - it would really come down to whether he wants to take the leap and declare for the NFL or go with a team that can guarantee that he'll play.
We have a quarterback coach, but it sounds like Stetson is Kirby's boy and Monken keeps his mouth shut. It might be good if we lose a QB or QB coach. When that happens we might get the truth about why Stetson remains the QB. We had a golden opportunity this year for a national title, but we have muffed it. If Stetson returns we will muff again. I am actually encouraged that people are beginning to express their true feelings about the way Kirby is handling this.
The " mobile qb" got 11 yards on 7 carries vs. AL. Early signing day and we get 3 or 4 five star db's, but our highest rated receiver is #224. Is it they don't trust that Kirby will have a 5'11" walkon who can't get the ball to them deep while 5 stars and Heisman hopefuls are on the bench?
At this point play 3 rbs and run the triple option Kirby🤬🤬🤬🤬
It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out. With almost a month to prepare, Kirby will show what he is made of as a coach based upon the decisions that are made for this game against Michigan. I for one, will be watching with both eyes open.
At this point, I truly believe Kirby would rather lose doing it "his way," than to win by going against his instincts. I believe that @kbp has it right. If Stetson is starting because he has better mobility, then why didn't he start in the first game against Clemson when, as we now all know, JT Daniels was injured. If an injured, less-mobile JT Daniels was the best QB then, how is it that a fully healthy JT Daniels CAN'T EVEN GET ON THE FIELD now????
