A "back shoulder bomb" is really just an underthrown pass that Pickens came back for and adjusted faster than the DB's. Watch SBIV on the play. Locked in on his 1st read, does not see anything else, decided before the snap he was throwing it up to Pickens regardless. That is SBIV's QB process in a nutshell. Upon closer review there is a UGA receiver (TE?) WIDE OPEN at the 30. No one near him. SBIV doesn't see him. Instead he throws it up into double coverage. Great catch by Pickens saved the play.

spot on assessment. Even in the Bama game, UGA receivers had a few steps on the defenders and the ball was consistently under thrown and then you have to hope for an awesome catch like the one Pickens completed or an interference call. Need a QB that can lead an open receiver and not leave those opportunities on the field.

An explosive downfield receiver means nothing of the QB can't get the ball downfield. I'd prefer a perfect pass as opposed to a spectacular catch.

    One other stat line:

Bennett: 0 . . . wins versus the University of Alabama

We can fool them all, Vandagriff to Pickens. It won't be under thrown!

I just heard JT Daniels has tested positive for Covid. He probably won't be able to make the trip, which insures SBlV will start, and gives us Beck in case of injury to SBlV. Beck was ineffective in his snaps, mostly when a rout was involved.

It's a good "omen," for lack of a better word, that our Friday night opponent is not a soft target. I think it bodes well for our preparation for the natty contest. GO DAWGS!!!
