MOBILE, Ala. — Former Georgia star and reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Year Jermaine Johnson is making quite a statement at the Senior Bowl this week.

Jermaine got some major “stats” playing against ACC foes, but I’m confident he would have been a 1st round NFL pick if he had played alongside his former teammates at UGA. We certainly could have used his talents and today he would be wearing a National Championship ring if he had stuck around. I wish him the best of luck and appreciate his contributions for several years.
@BubbaBill I agree. Unfortunately he got some bad advice from his father.
BubbaBill,
I doubt he would have put up those stats with us. It took 12 games with him playing almost all of the defensive snaps to get 12 sacks. I don't see that happening with the way we rotate players. Adam Anderson had 5 sacks after 8 games and I doubt he would have ended up with 12 sacks playing in a rotation. Of course we'll never know due to the suspension. Johnson is player of the year in the ACC and more than likely a first round pick and we won the Natty. I'd say it worked out well for him and it worked out well for us. Most elite kids want schools to prepare them for the highest draft slot possible and if they win a Natty along the way, then that's gravy.
Is this another guy whose dad pressured him?
