17 penalties on Bama vs. Tennessee and 16 vs. Texas? I remember a time when Saban coached teams were the most well prepared and most disciplined in the country. No more!
After the Dawgs beat them for the natty, Saban said 2021 was a rebuilding year for the Tide. Excuses, excuses.
Two great articles in a row from MG, this one a really useful walkthrough of many of the CFP Championship prospects, a very thought-provoking analysis... and, yet again, error-free making it easy to focus on the content even more.

Bama has a good shot to win the west. And I believe Gibbs is the the reason. Without his transfer they probably wouldn’t even be in the top 5 before the Tenn Loss. Tenn looks great on offense. Our boys will need to lock down those receivers and Stets will need to show why he returned. In Athens the dawgs should pull out a W. but let’s have some gator dumplings first.
Couldn’t agree more. This time around, he just dogged on his defense… but, again, not a single comment about his or his coaching staff’s accountability. Zilch. While much of a game comes down to talent (um, remind me, don’t we hear every year how ‘Bama has a top 1-3 recruiting class?), things like penalties and scheme miscues ultimately ARE about coaching, full stop.
Saban is undoubtedly the GOAT in CFB, but his lack of self-accountability in these recent losses, and (even worse) calling out his young men on the field as if they were the sole problem, is not a good look… the buck doesn’t stop with the head coach in just wins, it’s especially in the losses, IMHO
The only reason why you have Oregon ranked #9 is because UGA played them. The other teams Oregon has played:
FCS Eastern Washington
4-3 BYU (who was just crushed 52-35 by Arkansas)
4-3 WSU (who nearly beat - and should have beaten - Oregon)
3-4 Stanford
3-4 Arizona
Having Oregon ranked behind undefeated teams like Ole Miss and Syracuse is absurd. They shouldn't be ranked over 1 loss teams that weren't blown out 49-3 or who actually have impressive wins like Illinois, Wake Forest, Mississippi State and USC either. Even Penn State should be ranked higher than Oregon as they have victories over 5-2 Purdue and Auburn.
Ah well. Next week is Oregon-UCLA. Unless Oregon beats them, then Tennessee will be only actual top 10 team that UGA plays prior to Atlanta.

Could not agree more with these two statements! This is the NEW Saban and it started the day after the national championship game where he blamed the loss on Metchie and Williams and his cornerback being hurt while, in the same breath, throwing their young replacements under the bus!
Even this week, in his after game presser, he said that his players had a lot to learn from their mistakes after Tennerssee skull drug their defense with NO mention of coaching failure concerning his team having 17 penalties for 130 yards! What is your culture their now, Coach!? Allowing your players to trash talk before a game and then blaming them when you lose!?
As @Kudzu said whatever happened to coaching accountability and player development and “No excuses “ !?

BAMA has a great QB and that's what makes them dangerous. He wasn't the reason they lost to Tenn. He made again, and again Houdini type plays running around until someone came open and he didn't miss them.
I always felt like BAMA was vulnerable to the pass. Tennn loses that game if played in Tuscaloosa but it wasn't played there. THeir fans were the 12th man Saturday night.
Having a superior WR is such a weapon. Young had Williams, Jones had Smith, Burroughs had Chase. We just don't have a deep threat right now. Hooker has his 5TD guy.
As of right now I don't have alot of confidence in what I've seen out of Ringo that he can cover that guy. Hope CKS and Will Muschamp and our DB coach can develop a plan to triple cover him. We have to pressure Hooker all the while containing him.
Yep, keep in mind that Bama was still a powerhouse in their game. If we don't play at full capability we will lose one or both games vs TN and Bama (if they still make it to the SEC championship game).
That being said, if we play well and aggressively, we should have a real shot of heading to the playoffs again.
The Vandy game was one of our best, so we need to keep it up. Sometimes we come off slow after a week off.
