Every time a door closes, a window opens. That will be the case for several defenders in the wake of Nolan Smith’s injury.

We would love to see the Dawgs defense take advantage of Jalon Walker's size and speed, he and several others could make a difference for the Dawgs defense as they go against the high speed Tennessee offense. CKS and company are going to have to figure out a way to get them on the field for third down quickly enough to avoid the illegal substitution penalty. It got us at least once last year playing in Knoxville, and it got Alabama earlier this year. When the second down play finishes near the Tennessee sideline, its nearly impossible to get the DL and LB players (being replaced in the substitution) back to the Georgia sideline from all the way across the field before they snap the ball. Fortunately there is plenty of talent on the Dawgs defense and coaching experience to handle this situation. GO DAWGS!
It's great to hear about the young players.
It's important to keep things in perspective. Our team is talented and deep, but very young.

Thankfully NSmith's leadership will still be available on the sideline coaching up and driving the players on the field. His occasional big plays will be missed unless someone else steps up and into his shoes. As an undersized OLB/DE he has often struggled against bigger OT's. In his 4 yrs at UGA he has averaged 3 sacks/yr. Though was on pace to exceed last season's 4.5 sacks.
What we have seen this year is that the undersized OLB's, the primary pressure players in the UGA D, have not been effective pressuring the QB. Chambliss nor Sherman has done much of anything. JWalker is quick but even smaller than the players mentioned. Based on the pic above JWalker is shorter than the 6'1" NGreen. As for MJ Jr "increased his physicality" and "big boy ball" translates into not ready for SEC football and a finesse (soft) player.
I like the idea of JWalker flying at the QB from all over the formation. But not on every play. Using the element of surprise. Now putting MWilliams, a bigger more physical player with excellent athleticism at OLB would create a quandary in the minds of the OT. Bullrush? Fly around the edge? Set the edge? Stunt? MWilliams is not a 1 trick pass rush pony who will try to finesse the OT on every play. Creating indecision along the offensive line is advantage D and frankly something that has been missing this year.
It will be interesting to see what the UGA staff comes up with.
This is what happens when you not only recruit well, but also recruit the right kind of guys - high character with high motors. Excited to continue to see these guys getting their shots and balling when they do! GO DAWGS!
This is why kids come to Georgia - they will play. The amount depends on their success. Do you get 10 snaps, 15 snaps, 20 snaps. It's a huge reward for effort and success. It's also keeps upper classmen from wearing down, which makes their NFL future strong.
