All three of these things are critical to not only causing incompletions and slowing them down, but also to frustrating them into hopefully making a mistake that results in a turnover (which Tenn. doesn't do a lot of). I would add that pressuring the QB to the point that he has to throw it out of bounds to avoid a sack is huge. Hooker doesn't make a whole lot of mistakes, so in this situation he is more likely to throw it away than to take a sack or throw a pick. We'll take it all day long if it helps get the Tennessee offense off the field. GO DAWGS!
My understanding is that Pitt blitzed Tenn the whole game and could of should of won the game it their starting QB played in the 2nd half. BAMA chose not to blitz. Hopefully CKS and company have a good game plan. Whatever we tried against BAMA in the SECC game throw out the window.

And for how long has advanced stats like "third down conversion rate" been more important than points per game? It would be one thing if UGA were a defensive and ball control team that tried to shorten the game, dominate time of possession and for whom 21-7 games are as dominant as a spread team winning 45-17. But that isn't the case here. UGA has been throwing it as much as possible and trying to pile on the points ... for reasons.
So please, go back to trying to convince everyone that Oregon is an actual top 5 team and therefore is a better victory than Alabama at home and Penn State on the road (note: Penn State has played Alabama and Michigan, their only two losses). It is a far more realistic task than trying to convince anyone that Georgia has better talent on offense than Ohio State.
One loss scenario. UGA WHIPS Tenn badly but losses a close one to Bama in the secc. Who’s in??
@MikeGriffith great stuff and really like the detail provided on the offense. One small knit pic. In the zoom/self film world. Don’t look at yourself on the screen. Be aware of camera location and talk to the camera.
One very important key to beating the Vols is a very disruptive pass rush. We've got to affect Hooker or it will be a long afternoon. He can't be able to sit back in the pocket and pick us off, because he will do that if we let him. He and his receivers know each other's tendencies and route choices better than any team in the country. Contain and disrupt, sack if possible, but containing Hooker is equally important. On offense - No turnovers, better QB play, effective running game.
I said this past weekend that we needed to win this game to control our own destiny in the playoffs. We lose then all bets are off and like Mike said, we probably won't be in it.

@thadec When did Penn State play Alabama? Penn State has lost to Michigan 41-17, and Ohio State 44-31.
