What you say here is True Mike. I agree…… mostly. But I don’t think I’m delusional or just paranoid or what ever when I say that among quite a few ( maybe not specifically Heather) ESPN folks there’s been a pointed bias directed at UGA. That is Until these last couple of years. Just to many instances of very thinly veiled barbs directed at UGA. You know the Ole saying about if it has webbed feet, feathers, and a beak and goes quack, quack, it just might be a duck !! That’s Not to say All ESPN folks or even a majority. But Dawgs fans Have noticed it a long time ago. And though I certainly can’t Officially speak for All Dawgs fans I Think I might represent quite a few when I say that’s Why they and I have a rather thin skin when it comes to ESPN. Winning the Ntl. Championship last year and the SECCG this year and with huge potential for a repeat Natty this year is I guess a way for us to say Here’s Pie In Your Eye to all the ESPN Nay Sayers !! And I imagine that for Some of them to have to actually admit that UGA is in the National lime light Again, is akin to having to drink battery acid !! Dawgs fans have weathered Allot of insults to the program We Love for a long, long time !! So the chest thumping is prolific and will go on for some time. Long over due. But deep down I doubt many if any Dawgs fans Really mean any personal Hate for these Reporters and Analysts. I Know I sure don’t. We just hope that Now maybe respect for our program will come a little easier for More of the ESPN staff as well as other sport’s media. Kirby is building a program for the long haul. Not just One Hit Wonders of last year. Go Dawgs !! P.S. I always Appreciate You and your articles Mike and agree with them Most of the time but not all of the time. I wish you and your family sincerely a Very Merry Christmas !!

Bowers performs every task that's asked of a traditional tight end at an elite level. Then, add the ability to actually line up as an outside receiver and do it effectively. Bowers has wide receiver speed and route running ability with a TE size.

The Mackey winner last year was Trey McBride from Colorado State

"Notre Dame’s Michael Mayer and Iowa’s Sam LaPorta were the other two finalists, and an ESPN expert had predicted the Fighting Irish player would win the award."

These are two very good Tight Ends without a doubt, and have made a difference for their respective teams. The skill set that Brock Bowers brings is just simply on another level from where any other TE's are throughout the NCAA. Beyond what the statistical data shows (I'm sure the Michael Mayer apologist who pops up on this site frequently to put us in our place will give us his stats), none of ND's opponents Defensive Coordinators had to scheme, strategize, or survive the sleepless nights for Michael Mayer in the same way the UGA opponents DC's had to with Bowers. Bowers is the difference maker for the Dawgs that none of the opposing teams have an answer for. Of course ESPN had predicted a ND player to win this award, this should surprise no one. Don't be surprised to see ND in the preseason top 10 when July rolls around.

    GO DAWGS!

Congrats!!! Finally, he should've won it last year too.

Brock Bowers is probably the most deserving award winner with the possible exception of Herschel Walker in the history of awards. He should have won last year too.

    Congratulations, Brock.

Let us all remember that winning the games will always transcend winning the awards. That's also how Kirby and the Dawgs see it.

    Go, Dawgs!
