Yeah Bennett beat Bryce Young in the College Football Playoff last season. Like the defense didn't have anything to do with that

AMEN Jim!!! It’s sad how the haters just keep on hating. They would be the first to say Bryce Young won the SEC championship last year with no mention of the Tide defense. Totally amazing. Go Mailman and go Dawgs!!!

Yes, the defense was important in every game we won last year and this year. After Stetson's "fumble" ( was it really a fumble or was it a pass affected by the defensive players hit? ), he engineered drives that put us ahead ( by 8 points ). The defense did contribute by stopping Alabama's offense. That's what Kirby calls complementary football. And then, the defense sealed the win with the pick 6. This is a team sport, not an individual one. All must do their "job" as well as possible. Stetson's job is to get the ball to our playmakers, and occasionally make a play himself. He does those things pretty well. That is why his in in NY for the Heisman finals. I don't expect him to win, but would love it if he did. Except maybe for the "Heisman Jinx".

Last year the defense clearly complemented the offense. No WR or RB got anywhere near 1000 yards despite 15 games and Bennett only had about 200 passing yards a game, even if he was responsible for a lot of TDs. The playoff game against Michigan was actually his first "big game" which surprised a lot of people who thought Bennett vs Cade McNamara would be a Michigan advantage.

This year yes the offense and defense are more equal. But make no mistake if UGA merely has the #15 scoring defense - which is still a great defense - instead of #1 then this season goes very differently.
