Will DN wonders never cease... not only is the 4x MVP, record-setting, stadium standing ovation QB not listed as a Winner, he's not even mentioned! 🤔🤣😠
[mis-edit... sorry!]
"We eat off the floor. And if you’re willing to eat off the floor, you can be special.”
I love it!!!
I think Darnell was way under-utilized as a receiver at UGA. He should have much better stats in the NFL.
Loser: This article.
Many winner loser articles have been published. Every single one has been better.
Pathetic, Connor.
A three peat hasn't been done in the modern era. Kirby has a shot - it may be a long shot - but it's the biggest ever!
The blowout in the NCG totally rests at the feet of the playoff committee. There’s no way TCU should have been a three seed. The committee didn’t want a OSU - Michigan rematch in the semis…they wanted that game for the finals! UGA and TCU were the spoilers of that plan. The TCU vs UGA beat down would have been a semifinal game had TCU been correctly seeded at four and OSU vs. UGA would have been the NCG.
Kirby is concerned about a sense of entitlement in his program. There is no greater sense of entitlement in a group than that of Bama nation!
I think it was SB's best performance. Not one time, that I can remember, did I cringe when he threw a pass, and he threw a bunch of them. Not one time did I say, why didn''t you hit Ladd or Brock they were open instead of trying to force it to whomever.
Now one could argue that once the route was on the pressure was off somewhat and it became like a scrimmage or pickup game. But it was clear early on that SB' wasn't going to be denied a place in UGA lore as a two time NC winning QB!
DWash wasn't really underutilized. Mainly for 2 reasons. 1) he was hurt. A lot. He was injured so much his 1st 2 yrs people were asking if he was injury prone. His injuries were mostly lower leg. High stress areas on really big people playing sports. Areas that require long rehabilitation and strengthening work. 2) As we saw monday night and vs OSU, DWash was critical to the offensive effectiveness of UGA. He was too valuable to overuse during the regular season and risk participation in the biggest games at the end of the season.
So DWash was used exactly as much as he should have been to manage his body and ensure that he was available for the biggest games.
Loser: Caleb Downs and Justice Haynes? Ya think those guys are rethinking what was "best" for their "careers" ? They abandoned their home state and home state team to go play for a team that seems to be slipping in culture, development and national visibility. SBIV is a household name in his home state. You think Trevor Lawrence is known in his "home" state by anyone other than the most ardent CFB fans?
The main reason that AL had a CFB dynasty was/is because AL has always had the highest blue chip ratio rating of their players. And they have an excellent coach. It appears that AL has de-emphasized development of their players. AL selects former pro coaches, rehab coaches and coaches that can recruit more than develop. Clearly UGA has passed AL as the premier program. The AL answer will be interesting to watch play out.
From the outside looking in it now looks like CKS (and UGA staff?) is flat outworking CNS and the AL staff. If the trend continues GA players that leave the state can be put in the "losers" category.
Winners, Coaching, O line, SBIV, Receiving Corp, Running Backs, Big O, Defense (entire unit), young players getting game experience, Special Teams, Recruiting
Losers, TCU, Playoff Committee, Eric Ainge, Sour Bama fans because they weren't there, still taking about what if's
Overall good column, Connor. I would note that one team, the Minnesota Gophers back in the 1930s, did win three Natty's in a row, so it has been done before. Just not in modern history.
And you're right, our 2023 defense should be lights out. We'll just need to find a strong cornerback opposite Lassiter, and hopefully one of these incoming freshman edge rushers will be able to come in and play immediately. Remember, Dan Jackson should be back to provide depth at safety. The only thing with Bear Alexander is I hope he'll stay hungry, and not take on that "entitlement" attitude that Kirby spoke about. Hopefully, he will use his good game on Monday night as a building block for the future, and not as a soapbox to sell himself. Go Dawgs!
Winner....where's Ladd??? He earned at least a game ball for the performance he put on all the while playing through pain!!! I'd have to say also that Brock is a winner in that he now knows exactly what will make him the starter next year.....MOBILITY! I still think we'll have dueling QB's as game situations present themselves.
I also didn't care for Saban's comment at halftime... I can't remember the exact quote, but something about when asked how Kirby would inspire the team in the locker room despite amidst a blowout, his answer included it's what Kirby learned from him. While possibly true, the question was about Kirby, but Saban couldn't resist the self-props. Still arrogant and condescending, even when playing second fiddle. Go Dawgs!
