Oh, my.
Go, Dawgs!
Sounds like another chapter/scene in his upcoming and incredible biography/film... SBIV is a real person, and I am sure that all of his accomplishments may take some time to digest for him. He also is probably experiencing a wide range of emotions as he closes his collegiate years and looks forward to the many, many paths and opportunities that lie before him.
Unfortunately, drinking to excess and being a nuisance at 6AM after a night of partying will not make his transition any faster or less anxious...
Stetson Bennett will always be a DGD. In my book, he has replaced Herschel Walker as UGA's lifetime GOAT.
PS. This arrest is probably just payback by Texas for the absolute beatdown Stetson and the Dawgs laid on TCU in Los Angeles recently. I am sure it could have been handled in a less public manner when the city of Dallas/Fort Worth is oozing with violent crime each and every day.
I’m very impressed with SBIV’s ability to rise to the occasion in big game situations, his ability to “punch well above his weight” in silencing his critics, and how he was always able to avoid letting a bad play or series of plays dictate the remainder of the game (as in the 4th quarter of the CFBCG against Bama).
I’m NOT impressed with what seems to be a recent pattern of alcohol abuse. Whether he impresses me or not will have zero impact on what happens next for his career/life, that is certain. But I doubt I am the only one who has noticed his fondness for booze, and his lack of maturity to handle it. Those who may be giving him serious consideration to become part of their NFL organization may be noticing it as well. Just sayin……
GO DAWGS!
Too much Pappy Van Winkle can get you into trouble. Many a young man have had to learn that lesson - time for Bennett to do the same.
What a dummy.
Hate it…..not a very auspicious start to his life after UGA…
The young man is obviously going through a lot with the pressures of expectations being thru.st upon him, the devastation of the Willock tragedy, the decisions that he is having to make.
I hope he can put it all together…..I am confident that he will….
Good luck, young man…your future is bright!
I sure can’t judge him, Lord knows (and He does) I’ve done so many foolish things in My own life. In particular in my younger years. But things like this are self sabotaging his future in many things, not just his NFL hopes and dreams. It’s said that time heals all wounds, but he needs to let this be the one and only public display of foolish decisions. Outside of his NFL dreams this is extremely damaging to any other NIL deals, as companies and businesses won’t want that type of negative publicity. Stetson no matter what you do you have a Great future in front of you by the hard work you’ve already put in. Please don’t throw it all away by making bone headed decisions like this !! Don’t be like Me !!
@GoodOlDawg I have noticed the pattern too of his fondness for alcohol. Doesn't bode well if he is trying to make a team and to stay on it. I hope that he can get it together. His journey of fight and perseverance doesn't need to go south.
Yeah. My hope would be that actually getting onto a team would give some direction and grounding. Maybe not, as we’ve seen plenty of people’s success be the thing that does them in, but if you’re practicing and playing regularly, there’s at least less time for this sort of tomfoolery.
Going to the Senior Bowl would have been a better choice. Does he have a problem with alcohol? Being liquored up at 6AM in the morning makes one concerned. Keep up the behavior and he is going to ruin a golden ticket to winning in more than football.
