    David Hale is an imbecile--All the other writers have Georgia number one.

    It seems like you guys wouldn't be happy with ESPN if they predicted Georgia for all 4 spots in the playoff.

    I think it's more the fact that the one clown didn't pick them in ANY spot. The year is what it turns out to be but not picking at the beginning of the year is just plain silly. All that nonsense about alabama should be number one till someone beats them. Guess that mentality ONLY works for alabama.

    You're basing this on what? The two comments that were up when you opined?

    Saban picked a kid as OC and a has been at DC. I've been saying for years that a key ingredient to saban's run was keeping Kirby Smart so long. Since he left, they've gone down hill. They are very beatable.

    This is off topic but, I keep hearing how Coach Saban is rebuilding his team, for the last two years Alabama's excuse has been rebuilding, so I went back to look at the 247sports recruiting rankings between Saban, and Kirby, Sabans ranking Classes from 2016-2023 have been-1,1,5,1,2,1,2,1, In the same time Kirby's Recruiting Classes have been-6,3,1,2,1,4,3,2, so why is Saban having to rebuild his team with that kind of recruiting, and is this just an excuse, because he hasn't won a NC the last two years? If anything they should be saying he's underachieving with that kind of recruiting.

    David Hale: Alabama, Ohio State, USC, Oregon

    "The lone writer to not pick Georgia was Hale. He pointed to the fact that Alabama still has Nick Saban as a motivating factor for the Crimson Tide entering this upcoming season."

    Ummmmm, UGA has Kirby Smart, I think it's fair to call that a tie.

    Until USC and Lincoln Riley figures out how to play Defense they won't get into the Playoffs. Having Oregon get in, but UGA not in it is.... well, brain damaged.

    Seems like maybe Hale and Rittenberg are just trying to be edgy...

    @Michael_Scarn

    Oh that is even worse. He is picking 2 Pac-12 teams. When the Pac-12 has only been able to produce 2 teams to get through the season with less than 2 losses in the entire playoff era (Oregon in 2014, Washington in 2016). Usually there is only 1 team in the Pac-12 that has less than 3 losses. Picking a second Pac-12 team to make it over a Big 12 or ACC team is just dumb because both conferences have done much better in the playoff than the Pac-12, who hasn't won a game since 2014 (Oregon over FSU).

    Also, picking USC and Oregon makes no sense. Utah beat USC twice last year, including a blowout in the title game. USC is losing Jordan Addison to the draft they had a "meh" recruiting class especially on defense where they only signed 8 players (5 of them 3 stars with the only notable recruit being #2 LB). Also - even though everyone is doing their level best to ignore this nationally for some reason - Washington actually had a much better season last year than Oregon including beating the Ducks in Eugene. Had Michael Penix Jr been a 5 star coming out of high school like Bo Nix and Caleb Williams, he's the guy who wins the Heisman last year as he had better numbers than both of them on a lesser team.

    There's being a contrarian, there's fishing for hot takes and there's being just flat out goofy. Picking the Pac-12 to have 2 teams when they haven't had a single team in 6 years is the latter. And not even picking the 2 best teams in the Pac-12 last year to be one of them - Utah and Washington - is even beyond goofiness.

    Does David Hale actually think Saban can out X-O every coach he faces regardless of talent? I have a huge amount of respect for Coach Saban as a Coach, Motivator, and Recruiter but there are other Coaches who can scheme just as well as he can and when there is comparable talent, he doesn't automatically have the upper hand like used too. He has not slipped nor fallen; other programs have come up to his level. If Bama wins it all in '23, it won't be just because they have Coach Saban.
