I have had this unopened bottle of wine since the early 2000's. It is the UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA 2001 Merlot Central Coast. "Reserve Proprietary Alumni Series. I know there was an issue with the Board of Regents and it was pulled not long after it hit the retail shelves.
Do any others out there have one? Is there any Dawg value to it these days? Just curious if others still have one in their cellars.
20+ years is a long time to sit for many wines. Was it stored in proper conditions?
Probably not the "most" proper, but always on it's side on a wine rack. I wasn't ever planning on opening it for the wine, but just keeping it as a UGA novelty item.
Worst comes to worst, you might have a nice bottle of vinegar ? It certainly has historic value, though, in light of the "miscue".
How long does wine last?
