Being #1 on July 11 means absolutely nothing. Being #1 on January 11 is what you really want. Actually it is an advantage to CKS to not be #1 on July 11. CKS can now tell his entire squad that last season means absolutely nothing and that the '23 team has a lot of work to do to develop and be in the playoffs in December. If you want to be in the playoffs in December you better start working hard now.
All that you can ask of a program/coach is to be competitive with any team that you line up against. Very few teams can say that. UGA can say that. Let the development begin.
DAWGS have won 2 titles in 2 years. Last time ohio state won a title (2014) herbstreit was still a young man too..wonder how old kirk would like that sarcasm?
DAWGS have made both davis, and herbstreit eat their "expert" words the past 2 seasons. They guess enough and they're bound to get it right sooner or later.
I don't blame them at all - their rational is very sound.
I will say, however, both of them have made a career of putting UGA under the bus, while touting Ohio State, Michigan, and Bama. I'm still amazed how they gave free press to Bryce Young, helping him win the Heisman, when Bennett was taller, stronger, faster, and won more big time games. They make the news, and people believe them. Herbstreit is the Oprah of Espn - in so many ways.

It is amusing that part of the reason Ga. is dissed is because of the uncertainty at quarterback. Hmmm. How many starts will the coming quarterback at Alabama have when the season starts? But, no, wait, it's Alabama.

Before last season, Herbstreit picked Bama to win the SEC and Will Anderson to win the Heisman. He thought Clemson would have a great year and that Baylor would win the B12. As usual, he picked his Buckeyes to win the B-10. He was only wrong on every prediction--100%! Davis, I'm sure, was probably right there with him. LOL-who should be poking fun at whom?!
