What Trevor Etienne transfer means for 2024 Georgia offense, running back room
ATHENS — Kirby Smart made it clear earlier this week he wanted Georgia to surround Carson Beck with more weapons entering the 2024 season.

He will bring a great combo of experience and versatility much like Swift and Cook. Looking forward to these additions along with the our new recruits!
He is a great runner but he has pass catching skills similar to McIntosh and that was sorely missed this past season. He makes the wheel route not just a real threat but a threat to break off huge gains. Great get and to think we would see DAWGs become gators and gators become DAWGS would seem impossible but the portal has created so many odd things. Just crazy but do love the addition.
Did you folks watch the Gator/Etienne video footage? This kid is pure lightning when given the ball. Unbelievable RB...very quick and shifty, darts through the line into the open field like no one I have seen..at least lately. Very hard to bring down. He is short and very fast, and weighs over 200 lbs. Georgia has a game changer in this dynamo. I am super impressed. The Dawgs now have a a real RBU again.
UGA will be hard to beat next season...bring it on.
The only "problem" for a RB at UGA is the total yards statistic. But, to me, that is far outweighed by the decreased "wear and tear" on each back because of sharing the carries. I believe that the pros, unlike the awards groups, look at the YPC statistic as a valuable indicator. And, the passing game "sets up" the running game for more YPC. And the success of previous UGA backs in the league only enhances the value of having been a UGA running back.
Is our offensive line "elite" when it comes to run blocking?
Did we not have an already talented running back room?
Kirby is doing a great job with the portal. Getting high quality players that can help the offense next year.

With the additions through the portal and the incoming class UGA will be competing for another National Championship in 2024. Kirby has proven that he doesn't rebuild, he reloads. GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes. Of course they are -- as various linemen and linebackers can attest. Some of them may STILL be on the ground, courtesy Messrs. Mims, Ratledge, et al, can attest.
Biggest question for the line is whether Tate goes pro. He had a heckuva year -- lived up to that 5-star rating coming out of HS, and then some.
Losing Van Pran is a big deal IMO, because of his constancy and leadership (greatest center in UGA history?), but that was already a given.
We've got a lot of guys to reload with. It'll just be a bit more difficult to replace four guys who will be drafted (three who are likely to go early) than to replace just three of them.
Really love this kid's vision. I know coaches harp on running backs sticking with the play call and not getting too "cute" at the line of scrimmage… but Etienne really does seem to have a knack for finding daylight after the handoff, then bursting though it, wherever it is. Not all highly-touted/proficient RBs in high school have that gift at the next level. Good get. Go Dawgs!
Herschel quite often got the ball deep in the backfield to allow him to pick his own path. With his speed, quickness, and size it made him the best RB to ever play at UGA or anywhere else for that matter.
The best running backs have always been able to, to quote Vince Lombardi, "Run to daylight."
