Georgia football stars: Orange Bowl matters, ‘we know what it means to us’
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Georgia players arrived in South Florida focused on winning, even with outside noise from critics and media, most who have never played the game.

Kirby recruits players of this sort who fully embrace the culture of his football program. It shows. It fairly glows.
(The players of some other teams might say the say stuff, but ours mean it, heart and soul.)

Mentioning the tape and how scouts will see it - very good points. NFL scouts want to see effort whether you're playing the worst team in the NFL or the best. Consistency matters if you want to be in the league more than a couple years.
Here's to hoping we see a great team effort this Saturday and finish 13-1.
Agreed. Talk is cheap. Just look at the massive difference between who shows up to play for Georgia, and who shows up for the other guys. So glad we have our guys. Go Dawgs!

BigDawg, it is for this reason I believe that BB and AM will show up.....whether it's dressed and ready to play, or decoy or just on the side lines to give support.....scouts and owners are indeed impressed by demonstrative "TEAM" attitude! GOOOOO DAWGS, SICEM!
Too bad the playoff committee couldn't factor "character" into their decision formula... I'd bet there'd be a bunch of opt-outs from Alabama and Texas if they were in this bowl game. Go Dawgs!
FSU is no different than Texas A&M. No culture to talk about. Ok, maybe Texas A&M has a culture but it is wierd and pathetic imo. FSU is purely a free agent team built on NIL money. Look at Colorado. These types of teams are imploding. Sometimes that works (when?) and I think it is great they got left out (clearly not a top 4 team without their qb). Most of their team are just punks (opt outs prove it) and not impressed with their fan base (pathetic). Sorry, not sorry.
I'm certainly no Florida State fan, but let's not forget that a similar situation has occurred at Georgia during the Smart era - Sugar Bowl vs. Texas.
Obviously, Smart took a valuable lesson from that, and the Georgia program took large steps forward after that debacle. Can FSU do the same? I think that will tell us more about their culture than the situation they're currently in.
That said, there's no saving them this Saturday.
That Texas game and its surrounding Charlie Foxtrots was the most disappointing spell of the Kirby Smart era. It fairly súcked.
The good/great thing is how much Kirby learned as a result. He seems to take failures as lessons.
Some of what we've been seeing in the last three weeks or so is a direct result of what Kirby learned in the SEC Championship Game.
There is never enough depth. There is never enough speed. There is never enough length and athleticism.
I am very proud of Kirby and our Dawgs and very excited to soon see them play in one more very important game.
Does anyone doubt this...

@E_Roc Actually, Deandre Baker was the only starter to opt-out vs. Texas - and the issue there was bringing a player (Fields) despite him saying he was going to enter the transfer portal. The following year vs. Baylor there were two first-round opt outs - Andrew Thomas and Isaiah Wilson, and per a report Ben Cleveland had an academic suspension. JR Reed had a foot injury and did not travel, and Brian Herrien told us at the NFL combine that he and a handful of others had a minor inner-disciplinary issue that led to them not traveling. The following covid year vs Cinci some players dealt with covid during bowl prep - some reported, others not because they didnt want people to know who missed bowl prep leading up to the game but recovered in time to play, albeit not as well as they might have otherwise - and Eric Stokes opted out. FSU has 9 NFL draftable players opted out - Georgia has not had anything remotely similar under Kirby
These are good points. We lost to Texas because we were not focused and that is squarely on the coaches and players and we should own that loss. As someone who has Texas relatives it su cked and I heard about it for years and still do. We got beat. Period.
We need to stop making excuses for losses. We need to own them, learn from them and get better.
Hopefully today we will show that we can play to our standard.
