With schollies scarce, didn't know this was a position of great need? Go Dawgs!
not sure we needed him, but welcome to the Dawgs!
Safety was a need position. But after Downs took the money and ran, starting level players were not in abundance. UGA will sink or swim with the current S group. Expect to see KJ Bolden starting sooner rather than later. This player was not targeted as year 1 starter material. He is safety insurance with ST ability.
Coming from Oregon and going to Temple? Ya think Dan Lanning made a call to CKS? The call went something like this. Kirby this is Dan. I have a kid that wants to get closer to home. Good size and speed. With development could be a good CFB player. With his grades he can get the Hope at UGA. That and the CFB stipend gets him to the next recruiting cycle w/o committing a scholarship. You can decide to keep him or he can decide he wants to move on after getting a very valuable year of development at UGA. It is a win win for everyone.
Insurance. And maybe not a scholarship.
Welcome aboard
I think this makes sense. Not sure he will see the field but will be a valuable contributor preparing the team (which many people overlook). He can get his degree closer to home and be a valuable member of a national champ. Sounds like a win win.
"But after Downs took the money and ran" - not from from us I hope. This makes it sound like we (UGA or UGA NIL Boosters) gave him an advance with no strings attached. If that happened please expand… Downs did what was best for him. Not sure of the details but it sounded messy. It's ok, we got KJ. Do we need some more safety talent for the future - Yes. I'm sure Kirby is addressing this which is also why we took Pope who is underrated.
