So, was he convicted of DUI? It appears the DUI-related charges were dismissed but he pled no contest to reckless driving, underage possession, etc. I'm not trying to say he shouldn't be suspended but is the UGA Ath Assoc policy applicable in this case?
my reading of this article means he did not get convicted of DUI therefore he is eligible to play, barring suspension for some other team internal policy
I think a lot of people are going to be surprised when he trots onto the field in Mercedes Benz.

The most interesting paragraph was about the judge's admonishment: “I see you were driving a very new Audi vehicle,” Jolles said. “I don’t know if you have a name, image and likeness situation or if that’s being done through that. I’m sure you and Mr. Stephens have discussed that you are a public figure, whether you realize that or not. What you do, people see because of your role at the university. I would hope that you make better choices in the future to make a better example for those who are watching.”
She's been paying attention! And that's a fair lecture. I hope it sticks in Etienne's case.
More broadly speaking, mixing fast cars and aggressive 19-year-old athletes unavoidably means trouble. But — knock on wood — we haven't run into nearly as many problems this off-season. So maybe the staff's emphasis on counseling these young men regarding consequences is having some effect.
Road racing (which wasn't an issue in Etienne's case) has gotten to be more and more of a problem since Covid. My pet peeve: I'm disappointed in Coke for running an ad in movie theaters that glorifies road racing (young man dragging a Charger or similar down a city street and laughing happily with his girlfriend.). It's mindboggling that a supposedly responsible corporation would glorify a dangerous, illegal activity just to try to get "the kids" to buy more of their product. Shame on them.
