We have a lot of stars on offense. Bobo has got to figure out the right matchups.
Nice update, Chip!
Glad to hear that Arian Smith was active and catching balls.
Not glad to hear about Jordan Hall as he is definitely needed on the D-line. Hope he can play at full strength by the Bama game.
Finally an article from Chip Towers on DawgNation. Good to see an update about the scrimmage. I hadn’t seen anything about it so I almost thought they didn’t have one. Go Dawgs!
"the softest team we've had." I would be interested in hearing who CKS was overheard saying that to. If it was in private conversation to another coach that's not good.
When a team is "soft" that usually equates to the OL not being especially physical. And/or the receivers "Ole' blocking". It also can refer to the DL not stonewalling the OL and to the D in general. A defense that gets pushed around or doesn't sure, hard tackle is considered soft.
That's what we saw last year. A softer D. Now how does a D lose JDJ, Lassiter, TSmith and Bullard (probably the 4 biggest headhunters on the '23 D) and NOT be softer? Young guys will have to mature and grow up fast. I don't think CKS ever wants to hear soft and UGA football in the same sentence.
TRat being forced to play C is messing up the entire OL rotation. Lack of experienced depth at positions reflects the impact the TP has had on team's depth.
Say what you want about Saban being the GOAT or whatever. But he achieved his championship in an easier era. No TP, transfers had to sit out a year and there was no NIL free for all. A way easier time to stockpile talent. AL's last championship was COVID '20. Before the TP and NIL fully kicked in.
Sounds like the RB's were doing at least Ok (Frazier" bursting through seams" TE did well but didn't play much, long TD passes, etc… I would put it more on the defensive side of the ball CKS might be refering to or it was extremely hot Sunday by all accounts and sometimes "soft" can refer to just the mental desire to tough it out and push through the conditions. I'm hoping for that being the case. As attitudes can be adjusted.
